Unpleasant
It appears that Dr. Peterson doesn’t like to explain anything or follow up with her patients. She seems annoyed when we ask questions - gives one word answers- and irritated that she had to come in a Sunday to remove my mom’s gallbladder. Mom came in by ambulance two days ago.

Lacks compassion , disrespectful, condescending
Dr Peterson recently performed surgery on my mother. I’ll be filing a formal complaint with Boone Hospital very soon. Dr. Peterson’s overall bedside manner was HORRIBLE! She was rude, disrespectful and highly offensive. After surgery, my mom had questions that the nurse clearly assumed Dr Peterson would’ve already answered when she called about surgery being over and my mom being in recovery. Since we received little more info than that from her call, my mom did have some additional questions. The nurse asked Dr Peterson to come chat with us.The moment she stepped into the room she was clearly irritated and condescendingly tells my 73yo father, “Mr. Xx, I’m Dr. Peterson the one who called you and I’m being told you said I didn’t call you?” So rude! After my mom asked her questions, my final question was, “The IV is really bothering my mom, when can it be removed?” She shrugged as if to say, why are you asking me? Then proceeded to answer, “before she leaves.”

One of the rudest and most condescending people I've ever met. Does not matter how good of a surgeon she is. Too many other good surgeons that are good people to choose from. I hope she reads this and realizes she is not god.

I recently had two surgeries with Dr. Peterson. One emergency and a subsequent second surgery, performed at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO. I can honestly say that she is extremely knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate! Yet at the same time did not "sugar coat" the situation I was dealing with. She took the time to explain in detail every step we would be going through, and what I could expect. When seeing her for follow up appointments, she was prepared for our visit, and was very professional and informative about future tests and visits. I am truly thankful to have her taking charge of my care!

Terrible experienced. Misdiagnosed. Waited 2 weeks to let us know that would not be able to operate on my husband & she needed to make referral to a specialist. Took an inappropriate amount of time in making the referral and was hostile on the phone when I called to check on the referral. My husband died of cancer. Would the 3-4 week delay made any difference if it would have been diagnosed correctly & referral made promptly. We will never know.

Dr Petersen fixed what my other doctor mess up. Sepsis had set in and emergency surgery was performed in the middle of the night. Dr. Petersen took out a small portion of my intestines and left the wound open. I received the utmost care and I would fully recommend Dr Petersen. She's very professional.

I had a lumpectomy on July 24. Before scheduling the surgery, Dr. Peterson patiently explained to me what the procedure was, also the probable outcome and treatment to follow. She was professional and I felt confident in her ability to take care of me.

Had complications from general surgery years before. Dr. Peterson was not interested in helping me with them. Was only interested in anything new that may have developed.

After a horrible surgical experience 5 years ago that left me with many problems that no physician could treat, we found Dr. Petersen . She has been the one to treat me like a human and not like a drug seeker. She performed exploratory surgery and found the problem no-one else could. Surgery was just 2 days ago and I already feel better then I have in 5 years. She gave me my life back.
