Excellent physician. Dr. Gierl has been my physician for approximately the last 10 months after my rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis. I have been very happy with my treatment plan. She is very thorough. I am so disappointed with the news of her retirement. I wish her all the best!!

Dr Gierl LISTENS to patient and discusses options/treatment in plain English. Lou, her RN, provides timely feedback and gives patient time to ask questions. They should be the standard of Ascension medical care and could teach other dr some well needed protocol.

Takes time to review concerns, past labs and any treatments do. She discusses concerns or possible changes. I feel like she really listens to me and gives me choices when she can. Like that she summarizes visit and things that will be due. Had been very pleasant to work with. I had Dr. Partain for years and transitioned to her, which was easy. Excellent at what she does!

Dr. Gierl is an excellent rheumatologist and a wonderful human being. She has been my doctor for nearly a decade because her attention to detail, follow up, willingness to listen, depth of knowledge and ability to piece together desperate symptoms into a coherent diagnosis and treatment plan is unparalleled. I have been dealing with lupus and fibromyalgia for more than 45 years and she is the best practitioner I have had.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Gierl?
I have been seeing Dr. Gierl for over 15 years for my psoriatic arthritis. She has been indispensable in getting me back to as normal as I can be. When I first started seeing her, I could barely stand up straight. With her guidance and prescribing of proper medicines, I have only occasional discomfort - usually from my own forgetfulness to take my medication! I started seeing her because her clinic was near my employer. Now that I have retired, I contemplated switching to a doctor nearer my home. Ultimately, I decide that a 30 minute drive to see a very qualified doctor I was already confident with was much more desirable than trying to "start over" with a more convenient doctor.

She is too busy to see new patients. You need to wait 3-6 months to get an appointment. In that time your condition would be worse.

She is calm, thoughtful and a skilled practitioner. She listens and asks questions to be sure she understands what I am trying to convey to her. She doesn't minimize OR overblow my situation. These are important things because my husband and I need to have a talented rheumatologist in our corner. And she is. Autoimmune disease is a family affair. After about 15 years of care my previous MD retired last year. We were concerned about finding a new one. We both have confidence in her skills.
