I was really disappointed with Dr Iyer and Sona Dermatology. After seeing her 6 times over the course of the past year, she did not resolve the issue I came in with. She continued to be misleading about length of treatment or when the issue would get resolved. She neglected to tell me how to use the cream properly, leading me to apply it for months in an improper fashion. When I had questions for her through the portal, she was unable or unwilling to take the time to answer them for me directly. Sona Dermatology comes across as money grabbers, making everything transactional. Overall, I felt like her (and the practice) cared less about seeing my symptoms resolve and more about making money. They continued to mention that they couldn’t do anything as they are a corporation, putting any and all frustration on the customer. I asked her and their practice manager a couple times to come up with a win/win scenario, and they were unwilling to offer any form of viable solution. Dr. Iyer and Sona were unwilling or unable to offer any form of grace or flexibility with insurance codes or billing. Her charge is considerably high, considering the short time you are actually with her. They are unable to provide cost estimates, even when you have the exact insurance codes. It is very hard to get appointments, with a backlog of appointments for over 3 months. In addition, I had an appointment cancelled by Dr. Iyer and scrambled to get a replacement, because she decided to take extra time off close to my appointment date. Finally, I continued to push for a quick resolution, asking her to speed up treatment to the best of her ability, yet being in her hands for 6 months led me to no resolution. Also, I question the areas where she did work, as they look quite awful, and I just hope that they will heal in time. Furthermore, I leave extremely frustrated with her and the practice, misled by nice smiles and friendly dispositions.

An Excellent Compassionate Doctor, with a Keen Eye
I have been seen by Dr. Anita Iyer over several years. In my experience she has always been very professional, with an excellent eye and positive suggestions and solutions. I trust Dr Iyer and will continue to have her involved in my professional medical care. The only negative I can say is that she is overworked in that it is difficult to schedule an appointment with her. I usually cannot find an opening within 5-6 weeks of calling.

Terrible experience. Went to see her for fungal infection of nails. The standard therapy for recalcitrant infection, especially in an immunosuppressed host (me), is an oral agent. She said there are idiosyncratic side effects to Lamisil. I told her I usually tolerate medications very well. She insisted that I should use a topical antifungal agent instead (Jublia). What she prescribed would cost me over $900 for that one prescription. I wonder if she invested in the stock of that drug company. I am a physician myself. Red flags all over the place. Do NOT recommend this doctor.

Ugh so after being switched to her not by my doing, I found her to be tolerable. After this last visit, I’m leaving the practice. Her condescending, arrogant behavior is just not acceptable to me any longer. After waiting in a gown for over 30 min with no communication that she was running late I am met with such an attitude when I expressed how upset I was that no one even bothered to let me know. Which by the way would have solved everything. She has zero compassion, zero bedside manner.

Dr. Iyer was very thorough and personable. I really wish more doctors were just like her. I wasn't sure how quickly I could be seen (being a new patient), but they fit me in the very next day which was very surprising. I had called another dermatology practice and was told that I could not be seen until January 9th, 2017. If you need to see a dermatologist, call Dr. Iyer's office. Thank You for the prompt and very courteous appt.

Excellent surgeon - Knowledgeable and caring. No scars from several squamous cell issues. Dr. Iyer explains the procedure(s) and stresses follow-up wound care. As a result, I have no visible scars. An excellent physician!
