Dr. Angela Messina, MD

Took my wife here for pregnancy appointments. While Dr. Messina was adequate in her treatment and advice given to my wife, the management of her practice is a disgrace. Most recent appointment required us to wait for over 2 hours in the waiting room due to overbooking. Had a 10am appointment, did not get into a room until after noon. Office staff seemed to be very talkative with each other, but were not very quick to assist in ensuring smooth patient experiences. We will be switching doctors ASAP. Nurses also made rude comments about my wife’s results on some of her tests.

Dr. Messina is compassionate, easy to talk to, knowledgeable and very professional. She takes the time to listen to all of your questions and concerns before making any suggestions or referrals. I feel so lucky to be one of her patients!

Worst office staff ever! Please, do yourself a favor and do not go to any of Dr. Messina's offices because the staff follows her from office to office, depending on the day. You can never get a response from the doctor. She will not call you back. NO ONE WILL CALL YOU BACK. I have a patient portal, too. It is there preferred method of communication. They do NOT respond through the patient portal either. I won't even mention the wait time in the lobby. I cleared 1.5 hours from my schedule thinking that was more than enough time. After 2 hours I was finally called into her office. (Yes, I waited that long due to the next day being a holiday and I was having health issues I needed addressed).

I have never had issues with Dr. Messina directly, she has always been genuinely helpful. Although, the office manager, Shannon, is very unprofessional and does not return calls. I called the office on three separate occasions regarding an appointment issue and she never responded or called me back. After I tried calling multiple times for 2 weeks, I was frustrated and finally got through to her only because my appointment was the next day and I explained that I didn't feel comfortable going unless I spoke to Shannon regarding my situation first. She was not helpful, friendly, or caring towards me at all. It's a shame because the rest of the office is very professional.

I have been a patient of this practice since 2000. I saw a few male doctors initially before seeing Dr. Messina. She is an amazing doctor with a very caring bedside manner, hence the extreme wait times. She takes all the time you need when she’s in the room and is worth the wait; I trust her wholeheartedly. She almost feels like a long-time friend. I travel from Clarkston to see her because no one else compares!

Love Dr Messina. Very long wait in office then in exam room. 1.5 hrs so far. Have not seen dr. Does not appear to be busy in the waiting room. I don’t understand it. It’s not a respect of a person who is working and her time. Plus the walls are not soundproof at all, I can hear every conversation the Dr is having with other patient. Garfield office.

Sitting awhile waiting to get back probably 40 minutes. And I get told to sit on a couch, which I do and another patient comes and sits as well. She goes and talks to the dr before me. There really isn’t a good flow here. Lots of people waiting. And why would you have people sitting in a second waiting room? There should be a better solution. Not sure I want to suggest this dr. Small rooms too. But the staff is very nice

I like dr.Messina.I trust her and feel comfortable talking about everything.But staff is very unprofessional and I have to wait for my surgery date,still.They change it but when i call receptions she said i do not see the date.I left about 5 messages to Surgical department but nobody answer yet.I suppose to go on pre operation evaluation today (?)

I've been seeing Dr. Messina for years. Her attention to me, what I have to say, and addressing everything keeps me coming back. She's had to perform several surgeries with the help of other Doctors in her office, and all have gone very well. I trust her 100%.

Great doctor, very experienced, but very overbooked. Every single time I've had an appointment I wait for hours past my appointment time to see her. Several times I've had to just cancel and leave because it took too long. Because of that I have gone three years without being able to see her due to her untimelyness. They also book you months out even for rescheduling. If your appointment was in January, and your rescheduling (or if you're just looking to schedule) you're in March or April.

I waited over an hour past the appt time. I was having abnormal bleeding, she said it was possibly from too high dosage of hormones. During the exam she left to look up dosage info and refused to come back to answer questions. I was rudely told to tell the nurse and they would get back to me. They didn't. The other doctors are pompous jerks. When I was having a vaginal ultrasound (not fun) one of them burst through the door to find a pen! The technician apologized then said he does that often.

The only way to communicate with the doctor is through the MA line. They are rude and make it feel like an inconvenience to answer your questions. I needed to speak with the doctor because I was told by the MA line that my medications had been changed and I did not understand why and was unable to. I was at the office when they opened another day and was there for 45 minutes for a blood draw. The only ultrasound machine is at the Chesterfield office.

6 month wait for appt. and waited 6 mos for surgery date. To much of a patient load to be taken care of properly by a doctor. Never gets on the phone and talks to you when something is wrong. Been a patient there for 37 years. Not like it use to be, finding new doctor.
