The Best!
Dr. Merlo is a very serious and thorough physician. I have been with her as my GI Dr. for almost 10 years now and she has properly diagnosed and treated 2 very serious conditions. She keeps me on track with my diet and exercise, always looking for alternative ways to treat my issues before using untested medications or additional procedures. I need colonoscopies and endoscopies annually, and yes, I have had multiple opinions on my conditions. She’s always brutally honest with me…and sometimes that’s hard to hear. But she has literally saved my life and is committed to my health journey. I recommend her highly.

Horrible experience
I had the same experience all the other patients that gave a one-star rating. She was rude, nasty and short during my consultation for a colonoscopy. I went ahead anyway as I wanted to just get it done. My colonoscopy was the worst experience I have ever had, and I have been getting these for years. For starters she was 20 minutes late. There are many things I could list however here are some highlights. She had me sedated for an hour and 20 minutes for one polyp. She then insisted I come to her office for a follow up to discuss this polyp however I have never had to do that. She said without pathology report it looks to not be cancerous however we will see when pathology comes back. I told her my other drs just called me if there was an issue. No need for a follow up visit. She told me she wasn't going to spend any more time on me if I didn't want to have another appointment and hung up on me during our conversation.

Very bad experience
I just had the a very upsetting experience on the phone with the receptionist at this Drs office. She was the most unhelpful, aggressive, condescending employee I’ve ever had the displeasure of having to speak to. Especially with regards to something so important and sensitive as my young son’s health issues. Stay clear of this practice. Until the doctor has replaced this person. I am speechless and appalled at her manner. Worst receptionist ever. It’s actually mind blowing I had made an appointment for my son to see the doctor on z doc. The receptionist called me soon after and proceeded to shout at me on the phone that they are cancelling the appointment because I was apparently wrong to have made an appointment for him that way and then proceeded to argue and shout over my answers to all her questions with her. diatribe of criticism. All for trying to simply have an appointment for my son to see the doctor as zo c doc had allowed

Accurate Diagnosis
Dr. Merlo is amazing. For years she had been struggling with a stomach condition that made every day difficult and painful, and she saw numerous GI doctors who dismissed her symptoms or said they were just caused by things like GERD or gastritis. As soon as Dr. Merlo heard what was going on, she knew my wife had been misdiagnosed. She ordered a number of tests that quickly diagnosed the real problem and discovered a food sensitivity my wife didn't know she had. It was so wonderful that Dr. Merlo took her seriously, and as a result after six years of suffering my wife's stomach is back to normal. Thank you Dr. Merlo!!!

Terrible all-around.
Agree with all the negative reviews. This doctor is arrogant, rude & unhelpful. I do not expect doctors to be “warm & fuzzy” and am ok with straight-shooters in the MD profession. I don’t need a friend, I need a doctor. That being said, Dr. Merlo AND her staff need to check themselves. Ex: When a confused, scared & overwhelmed patient forgets her pen and is trying to take notes during an office visit (an appointment the doc/office FORGOT was scheduled)…. GET HER A DARN PEN. Don’t tell me I can jot information down in the waiting room when we’re done with the visit. That doesn’t even make sense and one doesn’t need an MD after his/her name to know that. Ex: When I called for my records, I was snottily told to look in Patient Portal & asked WHY I wanted records quickly (not your business actually) Turned out endoscopy results were not there from the procedure that was done 4 weeks prior. I had to ask AGAIN. (*these are just a few example of bad experiences with this doc/practice)

Turns out these reviews were correct (normally I figure people are just unhappy). After a virtual meeting with Dr Merlo I’m shocked that she is still in business. I’ll be contacting my insurance company to see if I can keep a payment from being made. After explaining my situation I was told “I don’t deal with that, I don’t know what to tell you” amongst other things. Rude and impersonal would be the first words to come to mind. What a sad practice, please do yourself a favor and make an appointment somewhere else if you read this first I sought some help with extreme pain and discomfort and was basically hung up on during my appointment, no referral, no guidance and no help ?? shame

Spoke with who I now understand to be Dr. Merlo on the phone to make an appointment. After explaining my wife's sensitive healthcare issue she said "Sorry we don't do that here." As I was asking if she had recommendations, she hung up on me.

I have had the pleasure of using Dr. Angela Marlo’s medical services on more than one occasion. The first time was more than six years ago. I was experiencing what I thought was severe heartburn. I had hoped to get a quick diagnosis and treatment. At my first visit Dr. Merlo came across very stoic and somewhat distant as a medical professional to me. With no vested interest, I was honestly contemplating switching doctors. THANK GOD I DIDN’T! What I came to appreciate was that Dr. Merlo, while somewhat opinionated, will take the necessary time to precisely pinpoint the best course of treatment suited for each individual patient. After several tests were taken, with no cause for concern. Dr. Marlo could have sent me on my way. With her many years of experience and, her true passion for patients kicked in. She immediately referred me to a Cardiac Specialist, making the calls her self. A few days later I was in recovery After undergo an emerge heart procedure That Saved my life. TU!

I agree with everyones reviews. She is definitely not professional. She is very rude and condescending. She had no compassion for me when I told her how severe my dizziness was and I vomited in her office during our consultation. I came prepared though and had my own bag to vomit in. She just sat behind her desk and kept asking questions. I asked her for some water and she said, "we don't have any in this office, try down the hall." Thank God my husband was with me and he had to go out to our car to get me a bottle of water. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE!!!!! I would give her less than one star if I could.

DISGRUNTELED PATIENT – Dec 02, 2019

I hate to write what everyone else has, but she was indeed rude and unprofessional. Told her that I have a lot of trouble with the prep for a colonoscopy. She was very nice and told me we'd get through it. She gave me standard prep, which I threw up. She yelled at me and said "you better figure out how to make this work". I never went back. Also, I thought it odd that she has no staff and answers phone by herself. Oh and here's a good one - she asked me if I wanted to hear about cool sculpting. I'm like 15 pounds overweight. I guess she needs to make a living somehow. Don't think this gastro thing is working out too well.

I would never recommend dr. Merlo. I went to see her with a serious concern. Once she realized how serious it was, she could not wait to get me out of her office. She reiterated that she was off the next day and the weekend. She suggested I go to a hospital over an hour away so that she would not be involved in my case. Dr. Merlo also had the audacity to bill my insurance company for the visit.

STAY AWAY...Went to her a few years ago. After my second visit I noticed she answers the phone with a slightly different tone to her voice to pretend she’s the receptionist and then puts you on hold. 2 seconds later she picks up the phone as the doctor. Whack job! Oh and refuses to provide my new GI doc with my previous medical results on a procedure I had done. This is common practice of hers. Stay away!!!

Pathetic doctor, rudest PERSON i've met. Came to the office 8 minutes late, on Good Friday and she yelled at my mom and I. She has no receptionist, nor any staff in the office besides herself, and no other patients. Glad I know why now. I booked this doctor on Zocdoc with my Insurance information already given.. she asks for my Insurance card and then says she doesn't take it even though it clearly says she accepts my insurance (AETNA), proceeds to charge me the full amount then walks into her

Dr. Merlo is efficient, honest, and very very good at her job. She comes across very very abrupt and does not have the best bed-side manner, but if you actually care about finding what is wrong with you, then she is your best bet!

She was HORRIBLE. Not only was she insulting and condescending. She tried to pressure me into getting an upper endoscopy done. When I said I didn't want to pay out of pocket for that if Im not sure I need it, she stated "you don't have a credit card?" Nothing was done. I got her "advice", paid my $50 copay for the day and left. She then charged my credit card 2 days later WITHOUT my permission for an additional fee of $186!!!! For what, I have no clue!! When I called she was rude &hung up on me

I took my wife to Dr. Merlo for an initial visit. Within 10 minutes, found out that she is a very rude, arrogant and unprofessional doctor who doesn't seem to understand how health insurance works. We literally had a shouting match in her office over the health insurance. A disgrace to the medical profession; I would not recommend her to my worst enemy.
