Dr. Andrew Schimel, MD

I had the pleasure of being at Baptist for retinal work done by Dr. Andrew Schimel. Everybody in the OR was so wonderful. Dr. Schimel is absolutely fantastic; young, quick and smart. The nurses were tremendous, assistants were actually enjoying their job! All smiles and now I see so clearly. I feel like I have laser vision! Thank you Baptist team!!

After waking up this weekend with a large black spot in my vision with flashes of light in my right eye, I walked into the office Monday morning seeking an appointment with a Retina Specialist. I was seen right away by Dr. Schimel, and his staff. He reassured me that I was not going to lose my vision - he was very detailed in explaining what my diagnosis was, and what I should be on the look out for. His technicians were both AMAZING in the process, where they put my mind at ease and made sure I was calm by the time I saw Dr. Schimel. I highly recommend Dr. Schimel at Center for Excellence in Eye Care.

I saw Dr. Schimel for follow up visit due to cataract surgery complications. I had a short written list of specific concerns and issues. I was his last patient before his lunch break and he hurried me through my questions with curt responses. I found him brash, dismissive, condescending, unprofessional, patronizing and highly self-involved. A very negative experience. I have not returned.

I highly recommend Dr. Schimel for his exceptional level of care and expertise in the medical field. Dr. Schimel is an outstanding healthcare provider who demonstrates an exceptional ability to explain medical conditions and provide comprehensive care to his patients. I have been a patient of Dr. Schimel for several years now, and I have always been impressed by his professionalism, attention to detail, and compassionate approach towards his patients.

Everything that a Doctor should be and most are not, he is simply one of the best.

I will absolutely recommend Dr.Shimmel. He is an excellent specialist and human being. I am an ER nurse, always on the run. When I was 30th years old, I lost my vision on my right eye. It happened when I was working. I was scared I was going to be blind for the rest of my life. I thought I was going to loose everything I had…my career, my job, my new house. I really felt hopeless. However, Dr. Shimmel was able to reassure me that everything was going to be fine. That I was going to have my vision back. He cares about the well being of his patients. He explained the whole procedure very calmly and answered all my questions. The surgery was a success, It’s been almost 10 yrs, and he still great. Thanks to Dr. Shimmel I got my life back.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Schimel - he is the best! He was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of my questions and address my concerns before my procedure. The operation went perfectly. I would strongly recommend Dr. Schimel to anyone with retina issues.

Great, thorough and wonderful physician. My mother had retinal issues and we were very worried. He calmed all our fears and helped her vision. I can't thank him enough!
