I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Andrew Schafer. After 38 years of really solid health, the last 3 have been filled with out of the blue healthscares-- from possible long covid to a bad bout of mono at 40 to a period where I had to rehabilitate myself to walk again....You can imagine my relief when a good Doctor like Dr Schafer become the head of my treatment team a few months ago. I have been very lucky in my time with good friends & family and pretty good medical care all throughout, but it took nearly 15 months to get a diagnosis of a Blood Disorder that turns out I was born with. The initial Doc that diagnosed me was very smart, but not much of a communicator. And I am grateful to him for my diagnosis, but I knew I needed to see someone who would really communicate, given the fact that my Mother, myself, and my very best friend are all dealing with Blood Disorders. Dr Schafer is one of the top hematologists in the country specializing in MPN disorders. He not only has top credentials and is highly knowledgeable, he is also kind, compassionate, and listens to his patients. I feel lucky to have had him as my Hematologist. Definitely recommend him!

Dr. Andrew Schafer is my hematologist who was recommended by my PCP (now retired) due to Cold Agglutinin Disease. I have the highest respect for Dr. Schafer; he is professional organized, sincerely interested, caring and highly detailed. He is very patient, taking his time to ask so many questions that uncover my health information that I would not think to share. Dr. Schafer finds potential health issues that are important to address that I did not even know exist. He is open minded to natural remedies which makes me happy. He still looks like Santa Claus to me. I feel secure, thankful and lucky to have Dr. Schafer care for me and do not hesitate to give him and his staff my highest recommendation!!!

My primary physician sent me to see Dr. Schafer for a question of a possible blood disorder. I must say I was very, very impressed. I barely sat in the waiting area before I was called into the exam/consultation room. The medical assistant was friendly and efficient in taking my temp and bp. Dr. Schafer came into the room within 2 minutes after she had left. He had already reviewed my chart and the labs from my primary. He took a very careful history and explained to me very clearly what his thoughts were. He was open to any questions I might have. I left the office with a feeling of relief that I was in the hands of a wonderful physician. I give him and his staff my highest recommendation.
