On the fence about this doctor
I saw Dr. Merkel at his Brockport office July 2024. Exam room had an overflowing trash bin in the middle of the room and toe nail clippings from previous patient on the exam table which were off putting but I chocked it up to possibly a poor assistant issue. Saw him again at Rochester office to, I thought, discuss xrays and future surgery. No xrays produced, explanation of surgery was odd. He even asked ME if he should do something on my little toe along with surgery on my others. Thought about it later and the conversation we had and realized he hadn’t really explained anything in detail. I left knowing nothing other than what I have researched on my own. Both visits were rushed, nothing accomplished other than to schedule a surgery but what he was actually going to do, still unknown to me. He asked me questions about myself but his eyes glazed over. He may be a good surgeon, idk, but I left feeling no confidence in him and opted to get another opinion.
