Very thorough.
Dr. McKeon left no stone unturned to diagnose a rare neurological condition and found medication to provide me with symptom relief. He was very kind, thorough and answered all my questions. I drive 500 miles to see him as the local doctors offered me nothing. One word to describe him - brilliant!

My wife saw Dr McKeon and we were not impressed. He didn’t really listen to her, said that the other doctors we have seen (who are probably at the same level of renown as he) simply didn’t know what they were talking about. Wouldn’t listen to me or my wife when we were talking about her autoimmune encephalitis and her experiences, basically pushed for us to get treatment at Mayo clinic instead of other centers that could do the treatment closer to home, at less expense and inconvenience for us. Mayo may be first in patient centered care, but not because of him that is for sure.

I’ve seen this doctor for several years. He always had a terrible beside manner. When I first diagnosed he showed no care at all. I found this strange. Today was the end of the line. He actually found it actable to scream at me. I was crying, he kept screaming. Telling me that it’s my fault other doctors don’t see me for my illness. That me being allergic to treatment I should not be cared for. He had no care that when I come there, I’m spending thousands of dollars. That this year I've been stuck in bed sick all year, also dealing with a father who has terminal cancer. Who am I after all? Just a paycheck. Not a wife, mother, College educated, friend. Treatment doesn’t work, or on his schedule how dare I exist. I use to think Mayo was the greatest place ever. The problem is, if they let these doctors treat people this way. No one will care how great they are. We are people, we want to be treated with care and respect. I should not be screamed at by a doctor.

Misdiagnosed a neurological autoimmune condition of anti-Nmda Autoimmune encephalitis via a one time video consult- negated biological testing as well as factual brain EEG - test results confirming condition. Lies profusely has a long reputation of having no concern for patients and their correct diagnosis- attempts to "cover up " other doctors misdiagnosis to " keep the story straight " Definitely not a trustworthy doctor- no empathy toward a human suffering from seizures, brain encephalopathy and cancer. The man is simply not humane.

His continued employment at Mayo is a stain on the institution's escutcheon, to say the least.

The man called me a malingerer despite brain scans showing indisputable abnormalities. He also refused to perform the one blood test that never comes back normally for me. Dismissed the idea of the rest even after he promised he'd conduct it. A bully.

Disappointed and disgusted. – Jun 15, 2020

I had high hopes as he is one of the few autoimmune neurologists, but was highly disappointed. Not thorough and off-putting beside manner. Came to Mayo to be evaluated for dysautonomia (second opinion) had nothing more to offer than typical salt and compression stockings even though I had an autoimmune antibody. Did not say this to me, but later saw that he wrote in my note that I had new onset Raynaud's due to "anxiety" - anxiety does not make half of your fingers turn white. Do not recommend.

Awesome. My wife had autoimmune encephalitis but the treatments stopped working. Dr McKeon recognized that my wife had a software brain problem residual after the encephalitis and she totally recovered with a rehab and psychotherapy approach.

I found Dr. McKeon to be kind, caring, and patient. he spent time to answer my questions and listen to my concerns. I would wholeheartedly recommend him. He currently works with Dr. Evan Jolliffe, who is an absolute gem. Dr. Jolliffe did the initial consultation and exam, and then Dr. McKeon reviewed and came in to offer his own recommendations and opinions. They work well together, and provide excellent service. Dr. McKeon also is available for long distance follow up consultation & care.

Never ever see this disrespectul, arrogant, man. Especially if you are single. It is his way or the high way, and he refused up front to answer any of my questions. I traveled all the way to MAYO MN to be told not to ask him any questions!!!! No one could believe this. What a travesty that MAYO even employees him. I am in the medical field and he sent his nurse in for the second apt,, to tell me everything was normal, when clearly the tests showed differently. WARNING !!!

Andrew McKeon is an absolutely first rate neurologist and world leading expert on neurological autoimmunity. Just as importantly, he's a good human being who engages his patients with compassion and holistic understanding, not just clinical interest. Docs don't get any better in my experience.

I've been a patient of Dr. McKeon's since August of 2015 and I think he is amazing. He listens to what you have to say, he is considerate, and he answers your questions. After all the doctors I have been through to get a correct diagnosis, he is the one who has given me the correct one and has me on the right treatment. I would recommend him to anyone who need him. All around great doctor.

I agree with many of the comments written on 6/17/2016. An error I made reporting my medications gave him an incorrect first impression. When the medication issue was corrected, he did not adjust his thinking. Due to the mix-up, and the Doctors inability to adjust to new and very relevant info the patient did not receive a thorough workup. Several tests that should have been done were simply not done. One would think he would communicate/listen better with a patient with neurological issues
