Caring, professional, and well informed
Recently had cataract surgery. Dr. Epstein and his staff made me feel comfortable, confident, and much less stressed. All options were explained thoroughly. And the surgery itself was exactly as described: pain free and easy. I could not be happier and give my strongest recommendation.

It has been 5 years since my surgery. Bilateral cataracts. I have waited until now to write a review because I am a Trinity Health employee and there could have been Repercussions because of " The old Boys Network". My surgery failed to have good results. When I sat in front of Dr. Epstein crying, not hearing about other options for improvement, I thought I would hear from him afterwards for follow-up conversation. But that never happened. I guess caring and compassion flew right out the window. Very Sad!

Simply the Best
Dr. Epstein and his staff set the bar for excellence in medical care. His office runs like a well oiled machine. I had a great deal of trepidation going to a new office after my trusted physician of many years retired. I saw Dr. Epstein on the advice from my cardiologist, despite the fact his office is at the opposite end of the state from my home. He is worth the travel. Cheryl contacted me prior to my appointment and explained in detail what to expect. She sent me all the necessary paperwork so I was able to complete it in the comfort of my home. I Julie greeted me at the front desk and is very kind and personable. Tara took down my initial medical information in a kind and caring manner. Dr. Epstein arrived very prepared, addressed me by name and was clearly aware of my medical history. He obviously does his homework. His medical acumen is surpassed only by his caring bedside manner. My surgery was flawless. Go to this gifted physician he’s Simply the Best!

Dr Epstein is great
I’ve been going to him for a while and I always actually look forward to my appointments with him (even though I hate doing the field of vision test lol). He’s such a nice guy. He explains things well, answers questions and you don’t feel rushed. Like another person said, he makes you feel like his favorite patient.

Dr. Epstein = Good. Ophthalmic assistant =Not good
Was going to have cataract Surgery performed by Dr. Epstein, but changed my mind after talking to his Ophthalmic assistant Kathy performed eye measurements. She was LOUD, rude and pushy when explaining the different lenses. I currently do not wear glasses, but she was insistent that I would need glasses after the surgery. When I questioned this, she said I need a prescription even now due to stigmatism. I don't have a stigmatism and I don't wear glasses today. It was very odd. I'm not sure if she had the correct patient eye chart. In any event, when I challenged this she loudly said, almost yelling "Well, I'll cancel everything, and with a with a loud huff walked away.

Dr. Epstein performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes and implanted multi focal lenses in October, 2020. The surgery was a great success and has seriously changed my life. Prior to the surgery, Dr. Epstein explained the entire procedure, advised what my options were and gave me the opportunity to ask questions. He made me feel very at ease. I was also very impressed that he called me the evening after each surgery to check on how I was doing. The office staff are amazing, especially Cheryl. She was so helpful and encouraging since I had some anxiety about the procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Epstein to anyone looking for a competent and caring physician.

I have been a patient of Dr. Epstein for many years and I have nothing but good things to say about him. He is an excellent and caring physician who has always taken the time with me. He is very professional, but yet down to earth at the same time. His office staff is tops also, and the fact that they have all been with him for so long says something about him. I haven’t had cataract surgery (yet!), but I know many friends who have had surgery with him, and they all have had excellent results. Long story short: If you need an eye doctor, Dr. Epstein is who you should go to!!!!

Andrew Epstein is the most caring, compassionate physician I've ever known. His technical expertise is unquestioned, but it's his approach to his patients that stands out. When he's with you in the examining room, you feel that you are the most important thing on his mind at that time. His staff reflects the doctor, friendly, accessible and good at what they do.

During the late summer, it was determined by my ophthalmologist, Dr. Andrew Epstein of Enfield CT, that I was in need of cataract surgery. My distance vision had clearly diminished enough to make night time driving more difficult. I didn’t want to deal with surgery but knew that the need would grow stronger with time. My journey began with my faith in Dr. Epstein. I have found him to be “my kind of doctor”, bright, thorough, sense of humor, and caring. His chosen staff care about you, the patient. I don’t feel like “a number” in his office. The staff is helpful as needed and always pleasant...so appreciated these days. Dr. Epstein thoroughly explained the process to me. His enthusiasm for my results further encouraged me. I placed my faith in him and moved forward! I had my surgery at Johnson Memorial Hospital with an outstanding surgical team, no pain at all,results..also outstanding! If u need surgery, you deserve nothing less than Dr. Epstein and his staff!

So I had my second cataract and lens replacement done 5 days ago . After 65 years of very poor vision in an ambliopic eye with cataract smudges. I wake on this Saturday morning with beautifully clear and colorful eyesight . I am grinning ear to ear writing this . I was having a problem just yesterday with my recovery and Dr Epstein called me in and put me at ease with my natural fear and his explanation of the process. Today amazing eyesight . Thank you Thank you Thank you . J Frangiamore.

Dr Epstein is nice. BUT... At my appointment, when he was performing my exam using the phoropter, I couldn't see clearly out of the lense because it was dirty/smudged. Lenses should be checked between patients, since dirty lenses cause errors in scripts & the spread of eye infections. Also, the optician was trying to sell a vulnerable, elderly man pricey eyeglass frames, & the man was trying to say "no." Then the optician used the same sales pitch & tried to pressure me into buying pricey frames

My experience with Dr. Andrew Epstein of 146 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT, was stellar. I had cataract surgery in both eyes, and chose the multi focus Reveal lenses. Dr. Epstein‘s office staff is warm, friendly, and very accommodating. I needed to get both of my surgeries done within a month’s time to benefit from having met my insurance deductibles that calendar year. Cheryl, his office manager, was able to fit me in to the surgical center’s schedule. Dr. Epstein is a very kind and gentle person.

I have been trusting Dr. Epstein for vision care since he took over the practice for the previous retiring MD. He is an exceptional Doctor and runs a very professional office with staff who are also easy to work with. I recently had cataract surgery on both eyes. The surgery went well and I was very impressed how well the procedures were explained in detail, carried out and followed up. I have recommended Dr. Epstein in the past and will continue to do so in the future for family & friends.
