Patient notified after he left practice
I established care with him about a year ago to oversee care for my adult daughter with special needs. I found him to be pleasant, patient, eager to learn about her rare syndrome, and he listened to me fully. We started seeing him at MBMC, but transferred over with him to the Highlands location when he moved there. We were due for an appt. next month for a checkup and med check. I received a message on 9/23 on MyChart stating he had left the practice on 9/18 and was given a number to call. When I called that number, I was told there wouldn't be anything with another physician until Nov or Dec. Being left in a lurch like that with no warning is unacceptable when your child is on multiple meds for mood and behavior and she simply cannot function in life without them. Now we are scrambling to try to find someone else. I understand things happen, but I feel like patients should have been given some sort of notice, or help with a plan to move forward.

New patient problems
My last doctor at his practice left. My wife used him, so I decided to give him a try. Four months waiting for my April 13, 2023 appointment. Got my confirmation voice message on April 10, 2023 at 7:26 p.m. At 8:15 a.m. on April 13, his assistant called and canceled my appointment. I give the following additional information because other new patients may have the same problem. My anti-depressant medication refills ran out in March. I called and asked for his help, and they would not even consider a virtual appointment to help. They said no refill until my April 13 appointment. I had to go to urgent care to get a refill. With full knowledge of my prescription needs they cancelled my April 13 appointment and gave me a new date at the end of June. Anyone on anti-depressants is probably aware what happens when you go off cold turkey. This will probably happen to me as I look for a new doctor.

I made an appointment with Andre Theraukauf at random, because it was the first available. I was worried I would have a poor experience because as a woman I typically choose female providers. However he was empathetic, humble, thorough and knowledgable, and sensitive to my health concerns. He would be my first choice if I were to do it all over. I went to him for a routine check up, and he trusted my experience of my health and ordered the appropriate tests. I got his analysis shortly after the test results were in, and from there he referred me to a specialist to address the issue further. He is exactly the kind of doctor you want to see for prevention and diagnosis of any disease. Because he believed me when I told him my concerns, I am getting the treatment I need. The experience put me at ease about my health. I would reccomend him to anyone looking for a general practitioner.

Dr. Theuerkauf was recommended for me by Missouri Baptist Hospital. My first meeting with Dr. Theuerkauf was shortly after my release from surgery at Missouri Baptist. He has since become my General Practitioner and I am so blessed to have met him. Dr. Theuerkauf his patience, his immediate response to any questions and concerns via “My Chart” emails and explaining all blood work and a list of other tests. Some related to follow up of my recent surgery. When I expressed my concerns about the condition of my bones immediately ordered a bone density test. I cannot say enough how blessed I am to have met this doctor, I highly recommend Dr. Theuerkauf . With so many health issues currently in my life - I could not imagine any of the care I have had - and continue recovering from health issues. You are in great “hands” . Thank you Dr. Theuerkauf for all you have done for me. If your looking for good care, you have found the doctor. Take good care, thank you.
