New Insurance for 2018, I chose Dr. Mercau Internal Medicine from my current plan. I felt lucky to find someone who was taking new patients and made an appointment quickly. She canceled my appointment twice in January, February and now again in March. I'm paying full price for Medical Insurance. I have medical needs not being tended to. I'm highly disappointed. Her excuse each month is that she is sick.I doubt I'll find a new dr to take me this late in the year. She has screwed me over.

I went to get a refill of a thyroid medication I have been on for years after my insurance changed and my old PCP was out-of-network. She said what I was taking was not reliable and insisted on a prescription for a different medication. I told her I felt better on my current one than on her recommendation, which I had used before. She didn't budge. She also said a thyroid panel through her office would include a reverse-T3 test, but it didn't. Waste of money and time.

The waiting time is always an hour, every time I have been to see Dr. Mercau. She is sweet and very likeable but she seems very disorganized. She bemoaned how she needs a day off and her patients should be agreeable to seeing another doctor covering for her when she is out. I was there to talk to Dr. Mercau about 2 issues I was experiencing and she did not listen to anything past my first 2 symptoms.

I also never made it past Christian the office manager. My first visit to the office, I was informed I had to pay an extra $70 on top of my $20 copay. They're reasoning was "because I had a high deductible" (it's $2,400, and given health care costs, that's not all that high). When I called my insurance company, they had no idea this was happening, and this doctor's office has since been flagged for investigation.

I've not met Dr. Mercau, as a replacement physician was in-house during my visit, but the office manager Christian is unfortunately a detriment to her practice. When addressing concerns regarding the service received with Christian, I was told "Doctors don't give refunds," "Clearly you don't understand medical billing," and "Maybe you should have made better use of your education."

I was put on a waiting list to see Dr. Mercau and was surprised to be called and have a short wait. Staff is very pleasant. Dr. Mercau is very attentive, kind, thorough and knowledgable. I feel blessed to have found her.
