Dr. Ana Aparicio Saved my husband’s Life
Dr. Ana Aparicio saved my husband’s life with a Stage IV Prostate Cancer after given a death sentence of 2 months from John’s Hopkins Cancer in Baltimore, Maryland. I am forever grateful for her expertises in cancer and her wonderful calm demeanor and compassionate bedside manner. We would travel the world to follow her because my husband is now in remission for 2 years.

Oncology - Prostate Cancer
Dr Aparicio takes a personal interest in my well-being. She is a positive person who is pro active in dealing with is disease. I’m in late 70’s and she is one of the BEST physicians I’ve ever had. She also has a brilliant support staff that works as a team. Medical care doesn’t get any better!!

My husband was diagnosed with a very aggressive prostate cancer in January of 2013. To be specific, all 11 biopsy cores had Gleason scores of 8 or 9. And we had been watching his PSA closely. It wasn't extremely high, just creeping up and then down. He chose to attack it with everything and then threw in the kitchen sink. Although he smacks it down, it keeps coming back but (this is a big BUT), if it weren't for Dr. Apparicio's care, I do not think he would still be here. He is currently on a medical clinical trial and his disease is stable. He has no bone mets at all. Our experience has been very positive. We communicate with her staff mainly via email except if there is an immediate need (does not happen often) and then we call. What you get when you work with Dr. Apparicio is a doctor who has great expertise in the treatment of a horrible disease. She is straightforward, which we like. Knowledgable. If any other family member was diagnosed with prostate cancer, I'd recommend her.

She requested my husband get an oncologist closer to where we live but did nothing as far as communicating with his physician then criticized his choices in my husband's treatment. My husband was marked as a " no show" because she hadn't received his scans even though we waited all afternoon for a 4:30 phone call that wasn't received until 6:15 when we learned she hadn`t received his scans. He emailed her to see if there was any way she could move a scheduled phone call up 1 day before he met with his oncologist and never even received a response. I hope this comment will help others from having the same experience we did. Cancer is horrible but you really need a compassionate physician which I regret to say she is not.

I have advanced prostate cancer and Dr. Aparicio is my doctor. She assumed my case last year. I am very impressed with her. She was very familiar with my case before I met with her initially and mapped out a new treatment plan based on findings that may have been overlooked previously. I am very happy with her and very grateful to have her as my doctor. She is world renowned in research and clinical medicine. Lance - Nov. 29, 2018

When my husband first started seeing Dr. Aparicio, we felt like she was really trying to come up with an effective treatment. As we continued and saw no improvement in his health, but rather a gradual spread of the cancer, we both began to feel that we were not welcome in her office. He was made to feel that he was not one of the success stories that M. D. Anderson loves to promote and therefore, he was not someone that they cared to continue to see. We could not get call backs or answers.
