I saw this doctor once. I filled out all the my pre-visit paperwork and submitted it to the office the week prior to my appointment. It asked general questions such as what is your main issue you want help with today. I was extremely clear and listed all issues in order of decreasing importance. When I arrived to the office and attempted to have my first appointment, the doctor kept interrupting me and then essentially called me a liar since I couldn't really be having the symptoms I was experiencing or I would appear much sicker. She also said she had no knowledge of my main diagnosis and did not feel very comfortable treating it. It would have been helpful if the office had actually read my paperwork prior to my visit so I could have avoided this doctor. Her manner was rude and abrasive throughout and lacked even a modicum of compassion.

Fabulous
Fabulous--Recently relocated to SD and after many unsuccessful attempts--ether not accepting new patients or not thrilled with the one who had openings-- to find a primary care doctor at Scripps to "quarterback" my husband and my medical needs, we are thrilled with Dr Witman. Caring, real smart, very available wonderful staff and great at explaining issues, balancing meds, etc.etc etc. We are very active seniors with some big and some small medical issues which complicates things but her quick grasp of everything and the priorities to treat made us feel like we are in amazing hands. I just got off the phone from scheduling a particular lab test for which the scheduler needed add'l info and she said she had never gotten such a prompt reply from the doc. Do not hestitate before, she too, stops accepting new patients. WOw

I felt I was thoroughly listen to, all my questions answered and needs met. Dr. Whitman took over the practice of a doctor I had been seeing my entire life, so needless to say I wasn’t thrilled about the idea of seeing a new doctor. That being said, I am very happy with her thus far. I find her to be compassionate and most importantly knowledgeable. My only wish is that she took insurance, but I’d rather have a doctor I really like and have to submit my bills to insurance, than a doctor I’m not particularly fond of.

She's very caring and thorough. She cares about me as a person and often goes the extra mile when I need something. She works part time, but her job-share partner (Dr. Christy) is also excellent. She does not have a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant so you always get to see the doctor. If she's running late (not usually more than 20 min), she'll still give you the full time allotted for your appointment.
