I’ve only had non in person encounters with her, but every single time she makes me feel icky. She hung up on me after a phone call and her comments in my chart feel passive aggressive and blaming. If I get pregnant again, I will make sure she will not be a part of that process. Avoid.

First bad experience of my 34 weeks of pregnancy
I went in for my regularly scheduled ultrasound, and as we wrapped up and I was about to leave, I was practically accosted by Dr. Whitsel, told that I need to schedule appointments that were already scheduled in mychart, and made to extend my appointment time to have a forced encounter with MFM regarding 14 days of irregular blood glucose "reporting"(regular for 3 months prior) She basically was very rude, pushy, and treated me with little to no respect. I come from a family of medical practitioners, and everything about my pregnancy has been fine. She has the audacity to speak with me in the manner she did, even though I am not even a patient of hers, and "notify" my OB team? My OB team sees me twice a week and are all very informed on everything. They say I'm fine and doing everything correctly. There was no need for this degree of overstepping. AHN is otherwise a top tier provider but experiences like these jeopardize the reputation, especially considering UPMCs presence.

Rude - Judgemental
Does not listen to concerns. Textbook approach. Judges personal choices. Blames weight.

Get ready to be judged if you don't want kids
She asked me twice if I planned to have children, and when I answered no, she said, "Not yet?" each time. If I meant not yet, I would have said not yet. When I replied, "Not ever," her whole demeanor changed and she said flippantly, "Well. It's a lifestyle choice." She even still wrote "patient is not planning to conceive at this time," in my chart afterward. It shouldn't be that mind-boggling that some women truly don't want to have children, and we certainly shouldn't be treated with disdain and disbelief, especially from a doctor!

Honestly, if I could avoid this doctor I absolutely would. She’s rude and has no idea how to properly deal with patients. She appears to think she is above others and has very narrow opinions of people based on their physical status.

She is wonderful! She made me feel so comfortable, has amazing ideas on how to deal with symptoms of pregnancy and fought to make sure I got the proper care I needed according to my availability. Even rearranged her own schedule to help me! You can tell she genuinely wants what’s best for her patients! After going through 3 other doctors that seemed disinterested and wanted to rush through everything I finally feel 100% comfortable with her!

She has no idea how to deal with any patient who asks additional questions or requests more information. She literally refused to see or speak to us for follow up questions after diagnosing a rare condition.
