Dr. Amy Shaw, MD

Dr. Shaw has been my Endocrinologist for about 8 years now. Never rushed with appointments. Always good for small talk. Has my thyroid issues under control!

I’ve been treated by Dr. Amy since 2010 and she has done an excellent job helping me keep my thyroid managed. Her staff have always been very courteous. I haven’t felt rushed but have appreciated she gets me in and out when I’m not needing more than just a check up!

Let me start by saying that I really do like Dr. Shaw. For that reason I have tolerated the Heritage Medical Practice for quite some time. However, since they moved to their new building, it is impossible to get them on the phone to even schedule an appointment. Today marks week 3 that I have received an answering machine when calling. Left messages and no one has returned my call. The office practices will absolutely be the downfall for an otherwise good doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr Shaw for many years and she has kept my thyroid healthy with medication. She has been very thorough and kind. I highly recommend her!

Dr. Amy Shaw is very compassionate and very caring. She brought me out of a horrible experience with another endocrinologist that had my levels all over the place..... Dr. Shaw was and continues to always be thorough as well as a good listener. This is my 10th yr as her patient.

I had a very bad experience with Dr. Shaw during the year and I half I saw her. I felt miserable, but she only considered lab test results, and not my symptoms or how I was feeling. I was even told on multiple occasions "It can't be your thyroid, your lab tests are normal. Consult your primary care doctor to explore other causes," in response to hypothyroid symptoms. I finally changed to a doc who was willing to try a higher dose of meds, and felt normal within two weeks.

Dr Amy is a great modern day Dr. She knows her field but is open to including alternative options when they show success. She works with her clients which is rare today. She's the only medical Dr I haven't fired in the past 5 years.

I've been complaining of my thyroid labs being too low for me for a year. I've had debilitating fatigue that no amount of sleep helps, hair loss, freezing cold all the time regardless of the temperature outside, inability to lose weight regardless of how I ate & exercising 5-6 days a week. I called my primary care & he even said that my symptoms sounded like I needed a dosage increase so he called it in at my request. It is now day 4 on the new dosage & I can feel a difference.

When listing symptoms of how I felt post thyroidectomy, Dr Shaw would tell me that these symptoms had nothing to do with my thyroid and that I needed to see my PCP. She also refused to adjust my dosage when I was "in the normal range" even though I felt horrible. I did take her advice and am now seeing my PCP who adjusted my dosage and am now feeling so much better. I will not be returning to Dr Shaw nor recommending her.

Literally the worst doctor I have ever seen! Instead of listening to me she was making me sicker on medication for the last 9 months! I would tell her how certain medications were making me feel and she would over talk me and tell me it was in my head! Finally I found another doctor! I can't believe I put my trust in her all that time!

My husband had an appointment with Dr. Shaw, had blood tests done and got on a higher dosage for his hashimotos and was encouraged to schedule visits in the future. When we ran into financial troubles and cancelled his next appointment, they got extremely pushy. His prescription ran out and called in to get another refill (which other doctors have done with no question). They gave him the run around and said they couldn't fill it without him coming in. They dropped us as a patient bc of that!

Dr. Amy is wonderful, but the lunatic at the front desk demanding illogical co payments before service ruins it all. She refused to let me see Dr. Shaw because I disagreed with her co pay estimate. She refused to bill my accepted insurance (BCBST). I had to leave w/o sering the Dr.
