Dr. Amulya Konda, MD

I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to share our experience regarding Dr. Amulya Konda, who treated my 83-year-old grandfather during his recent hospital stay at HCA in Tallahassee, FL. Unfortunately, our interaction with Dr. Konda was deeply concerning and left our family feeling unsettled and disrespected. After requesting to speak with the doctor to understand the discharge plan and ongoing care needs, Dr. Konda entered the room abruptly and immediately displayed behavior that was alarmingly unprofessional. She spoke at an elevated volume that bordered on yelling and dismissed my grandfather’s questions with visible impatience, stating she was too busy with other patients. My sister, who was on the phone and listening to the exchange, had to interject out of disbelief at the tone and conduct we were witnessing. It’s deeply troubling that a physician would speak to a patient and their family in such a dismissive and aggressive manner—especially when dealing with elderly patients who deserve clarity and compassion. Dr. Konda’s bedside manner was not only lacking in professionalism but also in empathy, and it left us with serious concerns about the quality of care and the trust we hoped to place in her. Communication and compassion are foundational in healthcare, and unfortunately, neither were demonstrated during our interaction with Dr. Konda.

Dr Konda is awesome but the office people are terrible! I've been. Hospitalized 2 x in the last 2 weeks for severe stomach problems. The office won't schedule a Colonoscopy even though she ordered it

I really like Dr. Konda. But what impressed me the most is that she knew all about my surgical history without me having to tell her. She even looked up recent labs and took notes! She really does do her homework before she sees a patient I appreciate her kind demeanor, and her no nonsense approach.

My wife went to Dr. Konda (Tallahassee, Fl. Gastroenterologist) as a referral from the surgeon that removed my wife’s gall bladder to make sure everything was ok with the stomach after the surgery. Dr. Konda said my wife did not need the diagnostic and that (with out verifying with a test) my wife just had bad bacteria and the doctor said that it was normal to have bad bacteria. That was not the reason my wife was referred to Dr. Konda. My wife was referred to just double check and make sure no other issues. Obviously Dr. Konda did not read the referral. We received a referral to another Gastroenterologist for my wife since Dr. Konda did not want to waste her time to follow up. The next Gastroenterologist completed the procedure and it turned out that my wife only had some irritation in her stomach but all was ok. My wife’s surgeon was very happy with those results. It would be nice if Dr Konda paid attention to why a person is referred and not guess.

I recently submitted a review recounting my experience of being "fired" as a patient at Tallahassee's Digestive Disease Clinic. I just received a phone call from one of the clinic's management (not clinical) support staff who took responsibility for the really awful experience I'd had. The order to ask me to leave as a patient did not come from Dr. Konda. Supposedly, the incident was kicked off by a faulty interpretation of poorly communicated instructions. Dr. Konda was not aware of the original communication until she received a letter of complaint from me. I am going to accept the apology & the opportunity to stay with this clinic. I was dreading having to find another Dr. after more than 6 years & generally think everyone is due a 2nd chance. The next time this staffer wants to fire off a letter, I trust she will think twice & run it past the person who is going to get blamed for it.

Konda is the WORSE and RUDEST doctor I have ever encountered. She drop me as a patient due to family emergencies from 2019 to 2022...covid, my mother in hospital for several months and me caring for her, covid again, my husband having 4 surgeries and an amputation, etc etc. I am so glad she is perfect. I then requested to see another physician. Well due to my "inability to keep appts" during all this, they both decided to band me from DGC. Well, brothers and sisters, there are other fish in the sea.

Professional and kind. Answered my questions and made me feel comfortable about the procedure.

Ms. Kinda was discourteous and impatient. She lacked concern for my well-being, did not listen to details provided to her, and, as a result, gave medical advice that was short-sighted and inappropriate and could have had a negative consequence if I had not been paying attention. I strongly suggest you look elsewhere for a digestive disease specialist.

Dr. Konda has zero empathy & hasn’t returned multiple calls regarding a bowel emergency. I had to go to ER. Still no response from her

Dr. Konda is the last GI I would ever consider recommending. She’s limited in bed side manner, knowledge of bowel issues or empathy. She refuses to listen to the need of the patient or prescribe the needed biologics to bring remission. Her only concern is office visits to bill for her services. Leah the office staff was blatantly rude and refused to have the doctor return 911 emergency calls to the patient. If you’re looking for a great GI team, this clinic is not the place for you to receive care. Do your due diligence before seeing this doctor, her practices for care are abysmal to say the least. Proceed with caution!!!

Presumptuous, condescending, rude and uncaring. This doctor is very judgmental and doesn’t care about anything you have to say as a patient. I was sad to hear her speaking to the next patient just as poorly as she had spoken to me, but relieved to know it wasn’t just me she was singling out. She cuts you off and doesn’t even let you speak and when you’re trying to remember something important to tell her, you’ll forget because she is in such a hurry to talk over you, demean you.
