Dr. Amanda Fontenot, MD

This Dr. is a joke- I made an appointment to see her in May just to have a financial appointment made for me in August. Once they checked that my insurance would cover her they gave me a Appointment for today. I go to my appointment and when I got there I was told they been trying to call me this morning which was a lie I even offered to show them my phone. They made me go all the way over there just to tell me the Dr. is NOT GOING TO SEE ME!!! " After reviewing her chart I will not have the options to offer her that will not conflict with other medical conditions and medications within the limitations of what insurance will cover" Now my insurance was approved in August!!! This Dr. could have taken the time to see me- I was there this is very unprofessional - either she is lazy or only worried about money!!!

Very easy to talk to, very pleasant, very thorough.

Completely dissatisfied with my experience with Dr. Fontenot. She appears disinterested as she speaks with you in the office. In reviewing her notes, she records my responses inaccurately, indicating she was truly not listening to what I was saying. She is "too busy" too make time for her patients. Upon switching providers, she refused to provide continuity of care to bridge the 1 month gap, forcing me to have to stop and then restart my medication therapy with another provider, setting me back 8 months in my weight loss journey. I suppose it's okay, because I didn't gain anything from the 8 months under her "care". Not at all what I have come to expect from an Ochsner physician.

I have been seeing Dr. Fontentot for about 10 years mabye 12, she was there from the birth if my son through it all. I believe she has a wonderful personality, we laugh and talk and she knows how to speak to me differently from other patients because of my Biology background. She is about solutions and information, these bad reviews -I dont know what type of Dr. you prefer, I want the straight shooter, focused on my issues over a bubbly fluff type that even if they seem like they are listening really are not. Dr. Fontentot is easy to talk to, beyond competent, thorough and will get what needs to be done done.

I had an appointment with Dr. Fontenot but was called and told my insurance would not cover my visit. If i wanted to keep my appointment I would have to pay $500.000. No thank you, I'll go elsewhere and I did.

I have never had an experience from a Physician who made me feel like I was a ghost. She never even looked at me, no eye contact, no hand shake at all. She was very dry, direct & to the point. She basically asked questions as if she was reading from a script. She's definitely lacking personal skills, this is a must have when you are working with patients.
