I came to her for removal of a polyp, which is a routine, low-risk procedure. After an unsuccessful surgery, I didn't hear from her or the office for a total of four days. It was only when I requested my records that the office bothered to contact me. Dr Black then called me to explain why she was unable to remove the polyp, which she blamed on my anatomy. She then informed me she had perforated my uterus (again, I had not heard from them in 4 days), which no one had told me up until then. When I ran her responses by another provider, they said her explanation made no sense and that she (verbatim) was 'giving me the run around'. The cherry on the sundae was the surgery report was missing and the asst of my other provider basically had to scream at the front desk to hand it over. The new surgeon I've engaged seemed shocked at the level of care I got. I cannot in good conscience recommend her as a physician.

A Gem
Kind, funny, courteous- and most important professional! My first doctor at this practice who I went to for 20 years retired, so this was my first visit with Dr. Black for my bi-annual wellness check. I was very pleased and highly recommended her. The office staff was pleasant and helpful as well!

The entire experience, from the moment I walked in, was fantastic. The staff was friendly and efficient, and Dr. Alyson Black, such an amazingly skilled , was not only knowledgeable but also took the time to address all my questions and concerns. Great! Quick recovery! Checked in after surgery( both of them actually ) beyond satisfied that with results ( again both time )

Poor care resulted in life-threatening emergency!
Dr. Black was my GYN but I wish I never met her. I have many physicians in my family and have great respect for them generally. The referral was from my PCP, so I gave her a chance. Even before sub-par care that resulted in preventable life-threatening emergency surgery, she was dismissive, sloppy, and unskilled. The nurses in the ER (there due to extreme blood loss) said I needed a second opinion, stat. Her "treatment" of my anemia was ironically what led to severe blood loss from an IUD (with abysmal follow-up) which then punctured my uterus, resulting in hemorrhaging so severe that I needed multiple emergency blood transfusions. I did find a FAR better physician who saved my life! I am eternally thankful, while Black showed a stunning lack of empathy--a pattern. Dr. Black's negligent care resulted in outrageous, unnecessary medical bills (even with insurance) and extensive, unforgettable bodily and mental trauma. I have never said this publicly about a physician, but please avoid!

Dr. Black was the worst medical experience of my 40 years. I went in with swelling in my female parts. She checked me in under a minute and said there was nothing wrong with me. 2 days later with 2 more office visits, and 5 phone calls I could not urinate at all. She still insisted I was fine and argued with me on the phone. I ended up in ER, a diagnosis of shingles, and a catheter in for over a week including on Christmas. Other Drs. said I would not have been catheterized if not for her.
