Dr. Ali Hendi, MD

My Dermatologist recommended Dr. Hendi. I live in VA and tried everything I could to avoid crossing the Cabin John Bridge. After not finding what I was looking for in VA, I made an appointment for a consultation with Dr. He di's office. This was the turning point for me. I had melanoma on my face. A relative in the medical field told me I definitely wanted Mohs surgery. So I went. Parking was easy, the staff was pleasant and welcoming, and the more time I spent there the more comfortable I became. Dr. Hendi is very kind and gentle, caring, sincere, and talented. With a scar running from the inside of my right eye and down toward my jaw, I was concerned about the scar I'd be left with. I heeded the constant comment of all in the office about EAT PINEAPPLE. I did everything they said. Surgery was on Aug 6 2024 and I can tell you that I am beyond thrilled with the outcome. I had to find my way and check things out, look at options, etc. Now, if another issue turns up, I know exactly where to head and will do so without hesitation. Dr. Hendi and his entire staff get an A+++++ from me. I don't write glowing reviews often, but this experience needed a spotlight shone upon it. Thank you Dr. Hendi and all! I have such little left of my scar and am sure with time it will be unnoticeable. Thank you!

Dr Hendi removed more skin from my cheek than I expected from the surface evidence. But I trust his skill in knowing how much to cut. I waited 3 hours for the results of the skin analysis with no update. Thankfully a second cut was not needed. He extended the incision to about 4 inches to stitch it closed. Again this was more than I expected. I experienced relatively little pain post op.

Hendi’s skin graft did not adhere. He left only scar tissue on my nose in Moh’s surgery. His work was critically assessed by two other Moh’s surgeons. He was defensive when his work was criticized and insisted that I was one of a hundred,that most of his surgeries succeed? I would recommend finding another surgeon.

I recommend Dr. Hendi without reservation and count myself fortunate to have found him. In addition to his skill and knowledge, he is a caring and communicative doctor. I never felt rushed or pressured, and he spent as much time as needed to address my questions and concerns. I had Mohs surgery several years ago at a major hospital, and it was just two visits, the surgery and the removal of the stitches, with minimal guidance on post operative follow up. With Dr. Hendi, there were two pre-op appointments for biopsies, the surgery, and several post-op appointments to monitor my recovery. He gave guidance on what specialists I should see over the long term. In addition, the nurses and staff were both professional and compassionate.

Dr. Hendi should also be praised for bringing Dr. Joanna Wong MD into his mohs surgical practice. She provided superb surgical care to me on 26 Dec 2023 for a melanoma. Three months later, my neck scar is barely visible, and the surgery is otherwise a complete success.Dr Wong's calming presence is much appreciated. I am profoundly grateful to her.Also, many thanks to Sam at the reception desk who took the initiative to obtain biopsy reports from inexperienced staff at my dermatologist's office.

I got a complete and understandable explanation of the planned procedure in advance. The assistants are well trained and quite efficient. The surroundings and comfortable, and the time seems to pass quickly. Dr. Hendi certainly knows how to perform the necessary tasks painlessly and competently. I can recommend him without reservation.

I have always had an excellent experience. He gives personal attention and answers any questions.

I said yes to being satisfied but I need to indicate a few reservations. From lengthy times in the chair after numbings, the overhead lights burned, or at least turned very red, my shins below my capri pants. The prescription I was given for a stronger pain pill could not be filled at any of the three pharmacies where I went. I didn't really need it, but I think you should be aware. I suggest you also warn patients that the office will be very cold so be prepared. Thank you.

As always, Dr. Hendi has been my dermatologist of choice for a very long time. He always gives me a great examination and takes his time to recommend and correct any problems I might have.

Dr Hendi has been my doctor for 3 years now. He is wonderful, he has always been very professional, with exact diagnoses, super effective surgeries, leaving almost no scars, he is very careful in that, without the need to go to a plastic surgeon later. His staff are very efficient and friendly, especially Evelyn. The times of the results of the biopsies are quite short and the waiting time the day of the appointment is never more than 15 minutes. I definitely recommend 100% the practice of Dr Hendi for the aforementioned and because he is an excellent doctor, very nice person, always answering all questions patiently.

Talented Doctor, but TERRIBLE new billing practices, so I left after being a patient for more than 10 years. Plays the game lots of dermatologists play these days by charging customers an "ambulatory surgery fee" when he performs a MOHS procedure in his office. Be forewarned that most health plans charge around a $350 copay when things are billed like this, rather than billing it as an office visit. (Health plans either view this as outpatient surgery or an ER visit - both equally punishing to your wallet.) Shame on him. His business was doing just fine before he instituted this new billing practice a few years ago. I went at it with his billing department five times and they refused to do the right thing. In fact, they could care less. I wanted the fee waived, at least this first time, since they never told anyone upfront about this radical billing change. I felt this was a reasonable proposal, but Dr. Hendi refused to step in to get involved and do the right thing. He hid in his off

Poor cosmetic result, confirmed by two other Moh’s surgeons. The skin graft did not take. Would be necessary to repeat two stage surgery. No explanation provided. Disappointed.

This review is for a recent skin cancer check by Dr. Hendi. I was seen promptly and both Dr. Hendi and all staff I interacted with were friendly and excellent communicators. Very satisfied.
