Dr. Alfonso Chen brings together two conditions that are very difficult to find at the same time in a doctor:1. A scientific attitude that allows him to investigate and go beyond the patient's underlying disease, get involved and even refer his patients to others specialists outside of his area of ??expertise.Thanks to which, he was able, after 30 years, to diagnose me, refer and finally treat a condition that specialists were unable to do. 2. As a human being he is a very warm and kind person, but above all very professional.A great professional!

I was referred to Dr Chen by someone who was a patient of his. In my meetings with him I have always found him to be a good listener and explained my conditions to me. It took a few years to get my medications right for me. We did this by trying different medications for 2 or 3 months at a time until we found the right medications that helped me. In the beginning of my treatment I saw Dr Chen twice a week, I am now down to once every.6 weeks.I would like to add that Martha in his office has always been pleasant to deal with. She has gone out of her way to get documents to my insurance company that they requested.I recommend Dr Chen.

Martha is the worst. She is dismissive, rude, and does not care to take care of patients. Dr. Chen is okay…he doesn’t really help at all and I’ve had a bad experience. The combination has prompted me to move to a far better psychiatric practice. Save your time and skip this part place!

I asked Martha about a billing discrepancy and she literally went off on me. She is extremely rude, disrespectful and unprofessional! Unfortunately the doctor sides with her. She has no business working with mental health patients.

Been seeing Dr. Chen for many years and truly believe he is an wonderful doctor. Professional, courteous and never feel rushed out the door. The difference is that he talks with you not at you like too many doctors do today. Martha is very sweet, helpful and always has a smile for you - a refreshing sparkle among dullness. I really like Dr. Chen. Been a patient of his for about 2 years now, after struggling for years to find a decent Dr. after my previous psychiatrist retired. He's not perfect, as he doesn't usually go all that deep into anything beyond symptoms and med management, but he's not a/my therapist so it's not a big deal for me, but I know for some that might be important or good to know. That said, he DOES listen and will even look over your chart while talking to make sure everyone is on the same page. Very willing to explore options and dosages with patient feedback - within reason I assume. Hours are funky so you have to get used to that if you need to reach the office, but the admin, Martha, is a total sweetheart and I like seeing her too whenever I go into the office.

Dr. Chen is excellent at noticing subtle details in behavior and conditions and adjusting medications based on that! He's very responsive to questions and generally pays attention to what I've said about my present emotions. He changed my medications shortly after I started seeing him, and the change has been excellent for my mental health and sleep.

Dr Chen zeroed in my issue right away. This after 30 years of trying to get to the bottom of the issue. Many other Dr.'s and medical professionals did not come close to anything satisfactory. In truth it has been life changing. Thank you Dr. Chen.

I took my father to Dr. Chen for help with Parkinson's disease. He was experiencing anxiety, insomnia and depression and was on many medications. Dr. Chen was able to manage these symptoms and the interactions of all the medications so my dad has a much better quality of life now. We are so thankful for Dr. Chen and his expertise.

I would highly recommend Dr. Chen! I first started seeing him 15+ years ago and he has always treated me with professionalism, kindness, and patience. He doesn't over medicate or unnecessarily push meds and really works and converses with the patient to find out what they need in a gentle manner. I trust him and his staff 100% with my care. The office staff is also very sweet, kind, and professional and his office and waiting room is always clean and comfortable to visit.

I cant even express my gratitude for Dr. Chen. I truly believe he helped save my life. I’ve been seeing Dr Chen for 14 years now. I’ve moved and still drive almost an hour to see him. After many years of self medicating and stumbling through other Dr.s he diagnosed me with bipolar type 2 and patiently worked with me through finding the right combinations of medicines. I no longer self medicate, I have a healthy marriage and a career that is fulfilling. I honestly know the day I walked into this office is the day my life changed for the better!
