Dr. Alexis Nees, MD

My experience with Dr. Nees was deeply disappointing. Her bedside manner was not just lacking—it was dismissive and unprofessional. I was referred to her for diagnostic imaging, and her reporting of my results felt rushed and impersonal. When I asked a clarifying question, she abruptly interrupted me and scoffed at what she assumed I meant.As a healthcare professional myself, I felt confident advocating for my concerns, but I worry that others—especially those unfamiliar with medical terminology—might walk away feeling intimidated and uninformed about their health. Mammographic imaging is a sensitive and crucial service, and all patients deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Dr. Nees, and I will be seeking care from a radiologist who prioritizes patient communication, respect, and compassion.

I had a mammogram & ultrasound at Lennox Hill b/c of pain & they forgot to do the ultrasound. They recommended followup for the other breast. I made an appointment at Weill Cornell & the morning of & they only approved the other breast. I explained to the women who book appts that as women, we know that our pain and our bodies aren't validated- I explained my family history and they spoke with the Dr (assuming Nees) who thankfully agreed to let me get an ultrasound of both breasts (GP also recommended). Sure enough- something could be done about it. I provided family cancer history of exact same spot in depth to Dr. Nees who dismissively told me that my family experience is not scientific & she "believes in science" (I have a science degree). My family history wasn't reported negating approval for the procedure I need. I guess she carried out WC policy, but I recommend avoiding her & Weill Cornell. She has no power to actually treat folks & WC is about corporate. I'm at NYP & NYU now.
