Amazing until the end
Dr. Carey was my primary for years and had become a family friend. She even took me back as a patient when I was 19 and pregnant. However, when I was assaulted and contracted an STD, she stated that "only bad people" get the STD I had. Broke my heart and I changed doctors the next day.

Dr. Carey is a wonderful female doctor who is thorough, kind, understanding, and curious about how you are really doing. She can be a fast talker, but still listens well and asks questions. I appreciate her knowledge of mental health issues and taking the time you need to be seen and heard.

My experience with Dr. Carey was probably the best experience I've ever had with a health practitioner. She was incredibly open, understanding, respectful, and nice. As a nonbinary individual, meeting with doctors can be especially stressful, but Dr. Carey made me feel completely comfortable. She was not only knowledgeable and provided the help I needed, but she also made me feel seen as an individual. I highly recommend her to anyone, especially LGBTQ+.

Dr. Carey is the most incredible pediatrician in Spokane! She is so thorough and caring. She takes the time to hear what's on my daughter's mind and talks directly to her. I (mom) am just a tagalong as an extra set of ears.

Has always listened to what I have had to say. Great with kids and cares about her patients. She is very busy but somehow manages to still give amazing care to everyone and if you have to message her on my chart she is a good replier. I would recommend her to anyone looking for pediatric care or young adult.

Dr. Carey is probably the best doctor I will ever have had. She diagnosed me with something it seemed no one could figure out in only 18 months (most people wait 10 years for this diagnosis). She was real with me and called me on my bs, but at the same time truly understood where I was coming from and why I was making those decisions. She was there for me from my late teens until age 27 and I miss her dearly. I highly recommend her if you have a child experiencing both physical and mental health issues.

Dr. Carey is by far the nicest most supportive doctor I've had. She gives off a genuine feeling of caring. Both her and her staff are always considerate and willing to work with you, to assure the best treatment possible. You will not find a sweeter more kind doctor in Washington.

She's the most kind and considerate doctor I've seen personally. She focuses on her patients, what's best for them. I don't think she's afraid to tell a parent if they are in the wrong about something, or if they need to improve on something, which I LOVE about her. She actually listens and cares about the patient. I'll be sad if I get too old to go to the pediatrics anymore and have to get a new doctor, I don't want a different doctor! I definitely recommend her (: very good with transgender/ LGBT+ patients.

I’ve seen Dr. Carey since I moved to WA and have typically had good experiences with her. I was planning on keeping her as my doctor until I moved out of Spokane, but my last visit with her was horribly discouraging. I’ve been battling with some issues for almost 7 years now and she dismissed my issues because “some people have it worse.” What happened to treating the patient in front of you? I was hoping for some bloodwork or something else done to make sure there wasn’t something big that we were missing, but I left with nothing but a new weight on my chest from being told that my days doing my favorite sport were “over.” She even acknowledged that I needed further imaging done, but told me not to worry about it. I told her point-blank that I’ve had nothing but pain for almost 7 years and that I was beginning to lose hope that I would ever be out of pain after her discouraging words, and I was told basically to keep my head up. Hard to do when your trusted provider dismisses you.

She was rude and unprofessional, would not listen, forced her opinions upon my husband and myself, and refused to just discuss medical facts. Instead she decided to play therapist. She claimed she was being an advocate, but was absolutely irresponsible in that. She was speaking outside her field, and did not have all the facts about my child (age 17) to advocate properly. She should've checked those out before speaking. If I'm wrong on that and she did have the facts, then she was even more irresponsible and dangerous and was flippantly steering my child down a dangerous path. She might have just un did 9 months of hard work my child has done battling an eating disorder, 5 of those in a facility) Doc refused to see her smoking pot as a maladadaptive coping skill she was using to not relapse back into the eating disorder. (My child agrees she is smoking so she doesnt relapse) Doc said her smoking pot was fine and I'm the problem. Wow...She is unprofessional, irresponsible, and dangerous.

While I've been fortunate to meet several excellent pediatricians, none have measured up to Dr Carey. She's absolutely brilliant and her empathy with children is unparalleled. I've never met a doctor that understands the issues that young teens go through and how to respect their dignity, making even the most uncomfortable processes non stressful events. I have never encountered a medical professional that cares and respects their patients the way she does. Even if an upcoming appointment includes a shot my kids are thrilled to see her! Thank you Dr Carey. I wish there were a million more like you
