Does not listen, no compassion
My sister had colon cancer and she had a mass taken out of her colon along with 12 ' of the colon and 24 lymph nodes ( at El Camino Hospital, Mountain View). The connection opened up inside her abdomen spilling feces and bacteria. She developed sepsis and was brought to Alta Bates Summit Oakland. Had second surgery to fix the problem. She was definitely fragile and certainly could have died. Almost all of the doctors were great except Dr Ramirez. He is rude, does not listen to your concerns and has his own agenda. He is hospitalist which means if you end up there he could be assigned to you for a week. In one week he upset my entire family and my sister. He will tell you one thing to your face and then on the notes in your chart he will write whatever he wants to lying and twisting your words. Do not let him in your room!

Dr. Ramirez is a real jerk - I will never forget his cruelty during my dad's hospital stay in 2016. My dad had a terminal liver condition and was on lactulose and rifaximin to help keep the ammonia out of his bloodstream and his head clear. There were side (diarrhea) and so we were considering lowing the dosage. Dr. Ramirez refused to check with dad's liver specialist regarding the change in dosage and yelled at my mother and I for trying to undermine his authority. Stay away.
