Condescending & inept
I had an emergency visit for kidney stones and Dr. McBride was the assigned Dr. not once did he address my wife who was in the room with me and asking questions about the care and after care, but he would ignore some of my questions till I repeated myself. His office was a joke with always having to wait an hour plus to be seen for follow up and the year following. When my body inevitably made another impassable stone he had a “let’s wait and see” attitude which caused a bit of anxiety for us. After he deemed my seeing a nephrologist for my kidneys as a joke and implied that I was stupid for seeing two doctor's while joking about that being a “two headed snake” I decided we were definitely done with one of those “heads” and left his practice to find a new urologist.

Doctor, awseome, staff iffy
Dr Mcbride was extremely caring. Asked the right questions and thoroughly answered the questions i had. He was able to determine exactly what was wrong and his track record only solidifies his position. His staff, however, could use a bit of discretion when speaking to patients. I was upfront checking out when they mentioned my problem and i was a bit embarrassed because there were other patients present in the lobby. It was extremely awkward. In the end, i had a great experience with Dr. Mcbride but his staff should be a bit more private because some of the issues we have are very personal.

How to ruin your life
Dr. McBride totally ruined my ability to control my bladder! I would have expected every Dr. to know that preforming surgery on a radiated prostate would be risky. He either didn't know or maybe didn't care. I have been told by other Dr's. that doing what he called a roto-rutor to my radiated prostate should only be done as a last resort. McBride did it first thing and doing so he ruined my ability to control my bladder. When I reminded him of the promises he made to me about full recovery within 90 day's he got mad, and raising his voice and said he was sending me to a specialist. Hah! That guy had no idea of what to do for me. So he did nothing at all, which was a blessing. So now almost 4 yr's later I find myself at the Keck Medical at USC where they will be testing me to see if they can preform surgery to correct what McBride did. It is Dr's like Albert McBride that has given Bakersfield the far and wide reputation of having so many Horrible Doctors, I hope McBride will see this.

Uncaring
I found Dr. McBride condescending and uncaring. In my first encounter with him, he rushed through his explanation of what was going to happen. When I tried to ask him a question, he told me he was “in a hurry to see other patients” and he did not have time to answer my questions. I reminded him that I had been sent by ambulance to Bakersfield (far from home) and then had to waited 24 hours to speak with him about an urgent surgery needed to save my kidney. Then, he said that I was there because “no one where I lived WANTED to do the surgery” This was not only cruel, it was inaccurate - my urologist had retired, the other one in our area was out of town for another week, and there were no other urologists available. I spoke with my hospitalist, who was present during the encounter, and he said that Dr. McBride was just having a bad day. However, my next two encounters with him did not improve, although his office staff did they very best to compensate for his lack of people skills.
