Dr. Nelson was my doc for over 30 years until I moved South. By far the best diagnostician ever. He is askilled and atrue doctor who listens and explains thoroughly. He is caring and it was difficult saying goodbye to him.His office staff was rude and dreadful. That I do not miss.

I have been a patient of Dr. Nelson for 15 yrs. He has most recently joined the group of Gastroenterology Associates at 2660 Main St Ste 203 in Bpt. During the past 15 yrs I have had nothing but an outstanding experience upon each of my office visits/procedures - from the dr to the office staff. Yesterday I had an appt at his new location. The office staff of the Gastroenterology Associates is about the most unprofessional group I have encountered in a medical setting. I arrived at 12:50 for a 1:00 appt. I explained that I had an appt with Dr. Nelson. I was told by the Spanish translator to have a seat over on the right. The receptionist, a woman named Jan or Janet, was rude and unhelpful stating that she was dealing with two different offices in the one setting - "just have a seat". At 1:55 I approached the window I told them I would not wait past 2:00 - no one at the point had even asked my name (no id/ins ever requested at this appt). At 2 I was finally called in to see the doctor.

Dr. Nelson is not only a fountain of knowledge about IBS, but when I had a shiga toxin from an eColi attack, he knew all about treatment and follow up. He is also a delightful man, charming, friendly and wise. And by the way, to the person that said she would not trust him at his age to do a colonoscopy -if he had not done my emergency colonoscopy, when I came into the hospital deathly sick with something they could not identify, there would not have been a lab test. That test result said I had an eColi shiga toxin. Thanks to Dr. Nelson, the results told the staff at Bridgeport Hospital what they were dealing with and I could then be treated properly. A great doctor who I hope never retires.!!!!!

Been going there for years for primary care but frankly I’m switching because he’s inflexible. You can’t see anyone else in the office but him even for a routine follow up. Have to wait months for an appointment. He’s over 70 now so I wouldn’t recommend starting as a new patient. Supposed to have a colonoscopy but canceled because again he’s the only one that will do it and I’m concerned about his abilities at this point.

Dr. Nelson is the best of the best! The office staff and nurses are THE WORST! They are rude and spiteful. After 30 years, because of them i will never go back.

This man is phenomenal! He really listens and is determined to get to the root of your problems. Does not make himself into a god, and will direct you to others who can help in your quest for good health. I hope he is around a good long time as I truly trust him with me life. His compassion is only outweighed by his knowledge.

I had a chest pain that continued for over 3 years . . . a stabbing pain, but totally unpredictable. My PCP couldn't figure it out, and sent me to a surgeon. She concluded it was not gall bladder problems, and referred me to my gastroenterologist. He was extensive in questioning and examining me, and figured out the problem. No surgery!
