I regret having cataract surgery by Dr. Carlson. Although surgery on my left eye was successful, surgery on my right eye left me with 20/60 vision. Since I live 80 miles from Duke Eye, my surgery was to be a co-managed by my local optometrist. After my surgery, my optometrist talked to Dr. Carlson about correcting my vision. Carlson called and spoke to my wife. He explained that he had chosen the wrong lens. Dr. Carlson would not talk to me about it, but told me to make an appointment with him.

Dr. Carlson performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes. The surgeries are completely successful, and my world is again clear and bright. I particularly enjoyed Dr. Carlson's teaching function with Duke students as he instructed both the student/s and myself in

An expert at cataract surgery. Answered my many questions with patience and clarity, and was the only doctor within 200 miles who had the best replacement lens I wanted, the Staar Nanoflex Collamer IOL. I could not be happier with the outcome. I see clearly, and have a remarkable range of focus. I hardly need reading glasses. And this lens has the lowest incidence of glare and sparkles of any out there. If you're in driving distance of Durham, see him!
