Dr. Akash Patel, DO

My neurologist prescribed a nerve test. During the test, Dr. Patel asked me which physician at Loyola Medicine had previously prescribed a nerve test, and I answered three times with the name of the ordering Physician. I currently have difficulty feeling on my right lower right extremity on the inner calf while Dr. Patel was administering the test he was jamming the needles into my nerves and muscles in an angry manner. I was asked if I used a Kane to walk and, I answered, 'Not currently but, I have in the past', Dr Patel responded that he was normally not asked to perform this test unless the patient used a Kane to support walking. Dr. Patel mentioned that the tests were normal and nothing was wrong with my nerves or muscles. I responded that I was not seeking a disease and was relieved that I was normal. I am seeking the answer as to why I keep falling and why my right ankle freezes. Dr. Patel's attitude towards me felt like my being in his presence was a waste of time.

Akash Patel (neurologist) used most of his time 'listening' to symptoms but scrolling messages on his smart watch. Not paying any mind to his patient. All symptoms were told to him, and he looked at charts and didn't want to do his job actually looking at the patient. The patient had to keep telling the doctor his symptoms. Dr. Patel was extremely dismissive until he was questioned about his initial prognosis after patient brought up multiple other specialists prognosis which didn't coincide with Dr. Patel. He then wanted to just give medication without looking into the patients symptoms any further. After waiting months for the appointment and having such a terrible experience with Dr. LaurelPatel, I don't trust him.

I have been seeing Dr. Patel for two years for myasthenia and in that time he has turned my life around. The new medicine he suggested has been a miracle in my life. My previous specialist of 30 years was not proactive like Dr. Patel. He is always encouraging, supportive, kind and friendly. I am so lucky to have found him. Thank you Dr. Patel

EMG procedure - explained the steps, answered my questions, diagnosed the source of the numbness in my right leg, provided a referral to a pain management specialists. Very pleased with the experience.
