Dr. Aisha Amjad, MD

During my high school years, I was admitted to the ICU for pancreatitis due to my struggle with an eating disorder. Dr. Aisha Amjad was the ICU doctor treating me, and my experience with her was deeply upsetting. She asked me what medications I was taking, and when I mentioned Bupropion, she responded with, “Why are you taking Bupropion?” I told her it's for depression, and her reply was, “You’re not depressed, you’re just lazy.” She also dismissed all concerns my mother voiced.At the time, I had been on antidepressants for 2 years, under the care of my psychiatrist. Dr. Amjad’s dismissive and harmful comment, along with her lack of empathy, made me feel unsupported during a vulnerable and difficult period. It was also apparent to me that she did not attend medical school in America, which may have contributed to her lack of understanding and professionalism. I hope Dr. Amjad takes the time to better educate herself on patient care and shows more respect and compassion in the future.
