My husband was referred to Dr. Zakari because of his blood test results. Dr. Zakari's P.A. informed him he had either CLL or CMLleukemia and did additional blood work to determine which type. This was on a Friday. Our weekend was spent agonizing over the future, researching treatments & life expectancies of CLL and CML and breaking the bad news to our family. We waited all week for a call with the blood test results. Finally, on Friday, a full week later, my husband called her and she said one of the results was "blurred". We then received a voice mail this morning (Monday), in which she said "Everything is normal". We are stunned and appalled that a supposed medical professional would tell a patient they had leukemia with absolutely no basis in fact. My husband's already high blood pressure sky-rocketed & I was so devastated & stressed I thought I was going to have another heart attack. There is no excuse for this negligent & dangerous behavior.

Good doctor with world's worst staff Using Dr. Zakari in coordination with a specialist oncologist at cancer specialty hospital in another state. He is executing the orders from the other oncologist and is the local reviewer and question answerer during chemo. When he's not rushed, he answers questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. He also responds to emails. His office staff is either overworked or just outright incompetent. Calls for appointment inquiries or changes go unanswered. Requests for prescription renewals aren't sent to the pharmacy without numerous calls begging (on voicemail since no one ever gets on the phone). The latest was they lost a blood sample and weren't even aware that they were supposed to get it to the lab even after numerous follow-up calls asking for the report.

Dr. Zakari's Reply –
Thank you for your review!
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Zakari?
Dr Zakari has been my hematologist and oncologist for the past 11 years. I have been extremely pleased with his care, research and custom approach to my diagnosis and treatment protocols. When the average doctor wants to jump to conclusions, he is thorough and doesn't hesitate to seek other specialist's input around the country to make sure he is correct. When I have had health problems, he digs in, solves and quickly gets you the right care. I completely trust him & highly recommend!

Showboats with fluff info - any intelligent inquiry causes his fragile ego to crack and doesn't take long after that to become cocky - rude - and dismissive. All his diagnosis are based on rote memorization of text book statistics and flowcharts - which is a general gripe about non-customized onco treatments - but this explains why he is apathetic towards any questions about one's specific reactions/responses/symptoms. If you are given an unsuitable chemo cocktail, expect a shrug - go die.
