Very rude bedside manner, spoke down to me and did not answer my questions

Terrible bedside manner
Went in for COVID follow-up due to inner ear issues and to establish a new primary care physician. I was told my inner ear issues were just allergies, not COVID. When I said I did not have any history of allergy concerns, he said it must be a new allergy since I recently moved to Alabama. I pointed out I'd lived here 6 years at that point, he didn't say much. He prescribed me nasal sprays for my 'allergies' and would not answer my questions about how that would help my COVID-related inner ear issues. The phlebotomist on his staff did a routine blood draw for me for baseline levels, and was not paying attention taking the needle out, twisting it. When I told her the pain I was in and that I felt faint, she scolded me for not telling her I needed a butterfly needle. I brought up my concerns with the massive bruise 4 weeks later with Dr. Bodla and I was blown off. He was also very irritated that I continued to question him why he was treating 'allergies' I didn't have.

Annual Visit is not required by insurance
I have been seeing Dr Bodla for about a year and due to issues have bloodwork labs done every 3 months. I asked to have 2 appts combined into 1 (my annual visit and results of bloodwork) I was told by 2 different people in the office that it they couldn't be combined because of insurance coding. I was told that insurance requires a yearly physical. I double checked with insurance. BCBS DOES NOT require an annual physical. I called back and again was told it was due to insurance. When I kept pressing that it wasn't true, I asked if I would be dropped as a patient if I didn't have a yearly, I was told yes. So make sure you understand when they say required by insurance, its truly Dr. Bodla.

I transferred my medical treatment from another location in Alabama & visited Dr Bodla in Aug. I arrived 30 minute early as requested and awaited a call for my blood work. An hour later the person providing the blood work showed up and said there was a problem getting approval for my blood test. No apology and no explanation if the test were covered. I met with Dr Bodla and provided a list of my medication and had an all encompassing examination lasting 10 minutes (Sarcasm) , with a request to come back to review the results. I never received a call nor any follow up on my blood work, and have yet to receive any refills. I know that insurance companies are putting lots of demands on doctors to have all of there paper work up to date to get paid, and will reject any payment request as a matter of policy, but patience should not have to be held captive due to those policies when you visit a doctor expecting premium care.

Dr. Bodla has been my primary care for years. Recently have had terrible office experience. Cannot get my prescription refilled without being charged a refill fee. Even though I have never missed an appointment. And when I do get a hold of a person, they are flippant and unhelpful. Would not recommend, plan on changing primary care doctor as soon as possible.

Office is terrible. Wont respond to requests or usually gets them wrong! They won’t approve RX refill requests from my pharmacy! But they don’t let me know. I only knew my insulin wasn’t refilled because of the pharmacy!

I’ve been a patient here for years. This was the only facility that would see me when I got sick and recently moved into town. Over the years, I have seen a decline in patient care. For the past 1 year and half, every single visit is riddled with HARASSMENT over, “no show fees” dating from years ago. Every time I pay, I’m told a new fee has been added. There are not that many missed appointments possible. In addition, the reminders asked to pay the co pay ahead of time. But still I’m asked to stop AGAIN to pay once I arrive. I am currently sitting, waiting for a lab appointment. I followed the check in procedure while parked in my car. I never got notified to come in. I called and the receptionist sounded annoyed. She said to come in. My lab appointment was at 9:45. I continue to sit in a crowded waiting room, not yet seen. Let’s not talk about lab fees. They claim they’ve sent bills to collections. So why are you asking me to pay? My insurance is excellent and has not changed.

After moving to Madison, AL, we had difficulty finding a primary care physician who was accepting new patients. We were relieved to find Dr. Bodla online. We were able to get an appointment quickly & were glad to get established with a PCP. The wait to see him the day of our appointments was especially long. We met with Dr. Bodla & went over our medical history with him. He was attentive & seemed to care about our health. When we asked if we would always have access to him when needed, he assured us that we would. We are always scheduled with a nurse practitioner & have not seen Dr. Bodla since the first visit. We find it excessive to go for blood work & a follow up visit every 3 months. Although everyone in the office has always been very kind and welcoming, the front office staff is quite disorganized. They send us reminders for the wrong day for appointments. We are billed for incorrect amounts which we have to discuss with them to correct. It has been very frustrating.

Dr Bodla is the best Doctor I've ever had. He listens to all you have to say before he leaves the room. He is extremely smart and if he feels you need to see another Doctor he will refer you to them. Thank you so much for being more than a Doctor but also someone who cares.
