Arrogant & Lacking Concern
On Wednesday, April 17, my mother was misled by Banner Health into transferring to Encompass following knee replacement surgery. She was pre-planned and scheduled to be transferred for inpatient rehab at La Rosa, which is part of the Brookdale Santa Catalina CCRC because my father, who recently suffered a stroke and has dementia, lives there and she would have difficulty visiting him otherwise during her rehab and recovery. Dr. Adam Weidenhammer, who is NOT a physician known to or chosen by my mother is refusing to transfer my mother or contact Brookdale on her behalf. My mother’s only option they tell her is that she either stay there or get discharged “against doctor’s orders” and go home. She is unable to drive and she has no one at home to help her, so she has effectively been held hostage by Weidenhammer. I am personally removing her from his care tomorrow.
