Best urologist in Memphis
With no hesitation I consider Adam Stewart, MD to be the best urologist in Memphis. Very knowledgeable in his specialty. I’ve been patient for other urologists for several years and feel fortunate to meet him since three years ago and during that time had two successful surgeries under his care. My last visit to his clinic was a post op occasion and as usual a pleasant visit.

Dr. Stewart is a physician with a personal touch. I came in contact with him in 2018 when I had a mass on my kidney. He explained it so clear! I recommended my husband after he was give a prostate cancer diagnosis by another physician and Dr. Stewart did an above and beyond procedure without all the chemo and radiation the others were talking about. He can be trusted!

Local vs sedated
I have been waiting several months with a urinary issue to see Dr Stewart. After my 3rd visit, he said we could inject my privates with with a very common med but only when completely sedated because it was very painful. Fast forward. I found out the day before my injection that the surgery center does not take large patients. So, they cancelled me and said they would schedule one at Methodist. A week later, I checked on my upcoming procedure. Not only had they not pursue the use of the hospital, they used a lame excuse that the hospital did not have this shot or could they get it. How lame ? So if you are overweight, Dr Stewart is not the Dr for you. He will not help you. Oh he will use A local but he tells you also oh you don't want this procedure with out being put under because it's so painful. What a waste of a Dr. And med school if you are not going to help all people. Larger people need help too. All this over a simple injection. He wasn't even going to cut on me.

No nurse response
Spouse saw Dr. Stewart. Ok visit. There was little explanation of tests the doctor wanted to schedule. He got a call saying he needed tests. He wanted more info about the tests. He was told a nurse would call him back. After 2 weeks and 2 more calls asking for a call back he never heard a word. He went in for tests and his experience with Dr. Stewart was good. About a week later he got Covid and was prescibed an antiviral but couldn't take until he got information from nurse about a potential severe side effect that could happen with medicine Dr. Stewart had him on. He was instructed that he needed the prescribing doctor at Urology to tell him if safe to come off med in order to take antiviral. On a Thursday a message was left marking urgent. By Tuesday still no call back. After 3 more calls on Tuesday I was told by nurse she had 80 other people to call back and Dr. Stewart knew she was behind. If you need help don't expect it. It was too late to start antiviral. Will be leaving.

Dr Stewart is 5 star ! The staff is the opposite ! My husband was called at home and told "You have cancer" !! Dr Stewart wants you to come in to talk to you ! We went & waited our turn. He was called back and we were told to go down to aisle D.! We did that and we were greeted with "You shouldn't be back here" like we were being scolded. He told her we were sent back there to see Dr Stewart. She said "let me find his nurse" ! We both were shocked by her behavior towards elder patients ! Then we are told he needed an MRI which was scheduled 12 days later. Anxiety grew every day. We finally go to the appt for MRI and wait. He was called back & to an office by a man that told him "I'm sorry I was suppose to call and give you instructions on prep for the MRI"! So they could not give him the test. We left. 5 hours wasted plus gas from a diff. county. 10/14/2020 I called Methodist MRI for another appt. Is this additional 2 week wait going to cost his life ?

I usually give doctors 5 stars, but in this case I can not. Dr Stewart is a good doctor, but his staff does not provide good service. Messages to Dr Stewart and his staff, and the patient portal, are ignored. Medical record contains a lot of incorrect information. I would recommend seeing another urologist at Conrad Pierson or going to another clinic.
