I extensively researched the best neurosurgeon for my neck. I met several people who have had the surgery, and everyone that had it done by Dr. Brant was enthusiastic in their recommendation of him. Then I asked several medical professionals about him, and they all said he's the best. I feel exactly the same way. He is known to only operate if all other options are exhausted, took the time to explain his reasoning, and has a great staff. In the operating room there was a team of several professionals, all making sure my surgery went perfect. My recovery was miraculous - several of the possible complications like difficulty swallowing, lack of strength in the neck for a few days, etc all did not happen. I have had many surgeries in the past (knees, appendix, gall bladder, melanoma, etc) and this one went very smoothly. I would not have anyone else perform surgery on my spine.

Horrible . He didn’t even take time to see me . After waiting 2 hours he sent his PA in that kept leaving the room . I’ve suffered with back pain for 12 years and all the PA did was refer me back to the pain management doc that referred me to Dr Brandt because there was nothing The pain management doc could do . The staff had zero clue why I was there , Dr Brandt was MIA and The PA Knew zero . So I guess I will continue to suffer . Don’t come to this office thinking you will get relief, all you will get is ignored I wish I could give zero stars

Do Your Homework before doing Fusion Surgery
It took over two months and several phone calls to get an appointment even with a Doctors referral -The front office would best be described as disorganized chaos - Once the appointment was made it was with Dr Brandts's PA - During the visit the PA left the room twice and conferred with the Dr (who I never did see) and wanted to schedule me for lumbar back fusion and laminectomy surgery (Major recovery time 6 months - to a year) - I went to a specialist in Redwood City and he did a micro decompression surgery with a (6 week recovery) period - Fusion and laminectomy should be a treatment of last resort - My Physical Therapist told me that seems to be the surgery of first resort in Fresno and I made a wise decision to go to Redwood City

Back surgery
I suffered for many years with a bad back. I was so afraid to have surgery because I heard all the bad things that would happen. I had surgery and feel 100% better. I wish I had had it sooner. Dr. Brant is wonderful.

I suffered with terrible back pain for many years. A couple of different doctors told me there was really nothing they could do to relieve the pain other than pain medicine, which I did not want to be on long term. I was referred to Dr. Brandt and when I met him I immediately felt that he knew what the problem was and that he could genuinely help relieve the pain. He explained everything fully about the surgery I needed and was patient with all of the questions my wife and I had regarding what the surgery, the hospital stay, and the recovery period would entail. He and his staff were very professional and helpful. After my extensive lower back surgery was done, the only regret I had was that I waited so long. I would highly recommend Dr. Brandt for anyone that needs back surgery. It has been exactly one year ago today I had the surgery and I am still very grateful to Dr. Brandt and his staff. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

He did an excellent job on my neck surgery. He had very good bedside manners and kept his appointments in a timely manner. Prior to surgery he discovered a spot on one of my vertebrates indicating possible bone cancer. He immediately himself contacted MRI facility and got me in for pet scans and MRI's the very next day. He went up and beyond to help me and was sincere in his concern for my health and safety. I would strongly recommend him as a very top notch professional surgeon who cares for his patients

I saw Dr Brant because I had crippling pain in my arm that was not responding well to medications. It was a constant 4-6 on the pain scale that would spike to an 8-9 frequently throughout the day. He got me in fairly quick and once the MRIs were done, he scheduled surgery immediately. The whole process was very quick. The moment I woke up in the recovery room after surgery I was pain free. This man is a life saver.

Working as a Firefighter, I received a spinal injury and was told by an occupational doctor that my career was over. Needing a second opinion I went to see Dr. Brant. I had tremendous nerve pain and spinal cord intrusion before Dr. Brant’s treatment. Dr. Brant relieved me of ALL pain all the while securing my spine reducing further damage to my spinal cord. I would certainly recommend Dr. Brant to individuals with spinal and nerve problems. He saved my career!!! Thank You Dr. Brant

Dr. Brant is pleasant but not overly friendly; he's professional and focused so be sure to write down your questions before your appointment and have someone with you to jot down answers. He is concerned but not overly sympathetic. He is kind but direct; he is quick and to the point but not rushed. He is very certain about what surgical approaches are the best and won't do any of the "latest/newest, least invasive" procedures.

Dr Brant via a flexible x-ray was able to pinpoint my problem at L4-L5. The surgery went smoothly and I was released on the 4th day (Thanksgiving). Everything he said would happen, happened. I am now 14 weeks post-op with no pain. I only have the muscles in my back to strengthen. I suffered with nerve pain and numbness for 11 years. I feel like a new man!

Dr. Brant is the real deal. I was required to have surgery immediately due to a rapid deterioration in my case, 3 level acdf. Dr. Brant answered all of my questions and delivered exactly what he said that he would. I had quite a bit of concern about letting a local surgeon operate near my spinal cord, but Dr. Brant did a fantastic job. Dr. Brant's staff was friendly, expeditious and helpful. I have recommended Dr. Brant to a close family member and friends.
