Early this year I had a severely infected colon. At Good Samaritan I received emergency surgery ending up with an ostomy pouch and a huge gash. I felt the doc was rushing. During my 5 wks there another doc found he missed a blockage which was cleared with a tube taking 2 wks. I rarely saw 1st doc. When I got home I started bleeding - the ER was able to stem it. I got and appt with the doctor, whose first words to me were, 'Why are you here?' I told him about the bleeding. He said that's usual, the nurse will prescribe some powder. He did not examine the wound, but said enjoy the time you have and come back if you have a hernia. 2 days later, back in ER with strong bleeding, which they stemmed. Now the home nurse helping noticed that the wound was closing fast, and the ostomy was failing. I got in touch with another colon surgeon who took one look at the wound, saw the closing speed and ordered a resection and new ostomy. Out in a week. See the doc regularly. Old wound almost healed.
