Dr. Abraham Barnabas, MD

My dad had Dr. Barnabas as his supervisory therapy Dr. at MacNeal hospital. As my dad's advocate, I would talk to the physical therapists daily regarding his progress. I was getting conflicting information from the different therapists, so I wanted to talk to Dr. Barnabas regarding these inconsistencies. During one of my visits with my dad, I saw Dr. Barnabas in the hallway and I called him over. He came to me saying in a derogatory tone, 'I know all about your dad's case'. My issue was, I kept hearing one minute from PT my dad needed acute care, the next subacute care. The difference is, acute care means hospital therapy and the next means nursing home therapy. I wanted Barnabas to explain the discrepancies. He stated sometimes insurance is the problem. My dad is a veteran with no insurance only coverage from the VA and I told him this numerous times. Barnabas continued to talk down to me in an unprofessional tone and was of no help at all. Avoid this Dr. at all Costs.
