A Dr. who clearly does not care
For my phone consult prior to my biopsy, he had not reviewed my lab work or CT scan. He pulled up my CT scan for the first time on the phone, wouldn’t let me get a word in, immediately stated he knew what it was and was off the phone within 4 minutes. I had to call back to speak to his nurse to tell her how dismissive he was and that he wouldn’t let me speak. He wanted to do a blood test that I just had done less than 2 weeks ago, that was negative for his abrupt “diagnosis” of me. Still, I went forward with the biopsy despite the hesitation because who wants to wait even longer? I confirmed 2x with nurses during pre-op that he would biopsy the lung mass AND the enlarged lymph nodes. That’s what the order was for. I was assured he would. He did not meet with me prior to surgery. He did not biopsy the lymph nodes because he “felt he did not need to”. Despite my CT scans being labeled as suggestive of lymphoma. I feel like I wasted a $600+ co-pay and now will have to have another biopsy.

I was referred to him for a biopsy of a node outside my lung to check if my cancer was back. He told me in the office he was running the CD30 testing to r/o my lymphoma. I took him a copy on how to test for CD30 into the operating room as he didn’t come see me before I was taken in. He said he would test by Flow Cytometry. He called me yesterday and said I had no cancer. I asked about my CD30 test and he said he can’t order that an oncologist needs to order it which is a flat out lie as multiple specialists have ordered this on my nodes. He refused to order the test and said he will call my oncologist who is on vacation to see if she will place the order: I asked him multiple times to please place the order I came into surgery for and he refused. If he had no intention of testing my node for my cancer why was I not told? How can a physician flat out lie to your face and say something is being done when he has no intention of doing it? I would have went to a different pulmonologist who was going to test for my cancer as I am stage 4 in remission Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. I am beyond dissatisfied with this physician. Now I am calling having to take care of getting the node tested for my cancer. As if it’s not enough anxiety going through this procedure now I must advocate for myself to get this done! What right does he have to take my life in his hands and lie to me that he was doing this? No patient needing an oncological diagnosis should be going to this pulmonary doctor. This is unacceptable and he should be held accountable for his actions!

The worst experience I've ever had with a doctor
Came into the appointment knowing exactly what needed to be done after only looking at my scan results, not reading the details of my referral or my symptoms. He didn't ask questions, just launched into his recommendation immediately. When I tried to talk to him about my symptoms, he was dismissive and kept interrupting me. He showed no compassion, even when I told him I couldn't breathe. I have never felt so dismissed and disregarded by a doctor. His office staff was immediately helpful and promised a lot of follow-up help (including an appointment with another doctor), but they didn't follow through on any of the promises. It turns out the treatment was pretty simple, but I needed a doctor to listen to my symptoms and care about finding a solution.

Performed unnecessary lung biopsy, lied about consulting with my other providers and was told I had a mass growing bigger, when infact the radiology report clearly stated it is shrinking. A month later I am still not recovered from him biopsy procedure, affecting my livelihood. He just stirred up my already confirmed VF infection.

I contacted Dr Khokar after a CT Scan of my lungs indicated a major medical issue. It was presented to me by my MD here in The Villages as a terminal illness. I have a history of multiple pneumonia and was concerned. Dr Khokar reviewed the information and explained it was scarring from the previous illnesses. He will follow me now. He is excellent and explains everything!

Dr. Khokar is an outstanding Pulmonologist, skilled as well as exceptionally intelligent. (I have waited for him to perform a procedure rather than go to someone else.) In addition, I have a strong background in both Pulmonary Research along with being a Respiratory Therapist before obtaining my MD. Cynthia M. Bush MD

I hold Dr Khokar in the highest regards both personally and professionally! I would recommend him to anyone seeking a specialist in his field! I've been treated by several pulmonary specialists and he is by far the best I've seen. I have complete trust in his knowledge and decisions in treating my condition. I'm thankful for having found him and as long as insurance allows, he will remain my Dr indefinitely.

Very impressed with Dr Khokar’s understanding of my breathing issues and the best procedure needed to improve them. The first time I met him he had studied my past diagnosis and procedures and had a plan ready. He was very understanding of my 2 hour drive to Gainesville and the day after the bronoscopy ballooning he personally called me to check on my recovery. A week later he called again to report blood testing results and check on my breathing which has greatly improved!
