Non function kidney
From my first appointment, Dr Benson was very straight forward about my kidney issue and how to proceed. He was so thorough I did not even need to ask questions. I had been in pain for quite some time. He explained how the surgery would go, best and worse case scenarios. Surgery was a success. Dr Benson and his team are amazing. I am now four weeks post op and there is no more pain. I feel human again. I would highly recommend Dr Benson!

Excellent Physician
I consulted Dr. Benson about prostate reduction surgery. He explained the procedure (HoLEP surgery) and answered all my questions. The surgery was successful, and I have seen him for two followup appointments. He is very caring and professional. This was a great outcome for me.

Dr Benson continually had his staff call to reschedule the appointment time. I was even told that if he wasn’t busy in the morning he wanted to move everyone up so he could go home.

Dr. Benson was great!
Normally, I hate everyone, particularly doctors, especially when I am in pain with a kidney stone. However, I really liked Dr. Benson. Dr. Benson was great! He answered all questions and was communicative via e-mail. He was also pretty funny. His office staff was pretty awesome. I really liked his clinical assistant and Kelly the surgery scheduler. While I never intend to have a kidney stone again, if I do, I would go back in a heart beat.

After recently having a kidney stone, Dr. Benson’s office was able to get me in for an appointment within a few days. I was impressed with Dr. Benson. This being our first meeting I thought he was very knowledgeable and courteous. He answered ALL my questions and made me feel like my time was important.

I felt he was very unprofessional in appearance and demeanor. He would not listen to my concerns and prescribed a medicine that could have caused more damage than good. Had he taken the time to listen to me he would have caught my concerns. Wasted trip.

Benson ignored key health concerns on not one but two visits. Both of which added up to less than 5 minutes. Slammed equestrians. Holier than thou attitude...it was awful. To top it off, totally ignored existing medical problems, creating severe complications. Had a conflict on medications with bloodthinners, Benson saying to stop the WRONG medication...good thing i caught that before surgery....i wound up with a bad uti after calling afterhours from friday till monday A.M.....i finally got results, meaning a prescription FIVE DAYS IN. This happened the scheduled day of my biopsy in a hastily arranged meeting with yet another dr who asked me why he didn't order a certain test. WHY??? AM I A DR??? HOW DO I KNOW??? Benson had ignored another point..now, once again I was at loss as to why this man is allowed to see patients. I am now on my 6th catheter in 6 weeks and am quickly headed elsewhere...for a biopsy and possible prostate removal. AVOID THIS OFFICE IF YOU VALUE CARE. He's done.

The hospital and facilities were great. I did not appreciate him calling my cell phone after he finished procedure on my wife. I could not hear him and reception was bad. The three other people next to me waiting had their doctor personally come out and talk to them. When I got to room I explained to nurse I could not completely hear him and i had questions. She paged him and he called her and talked through her to ask what I wanted because he had already called me. I'M SORRY I BOTHERED YOU! I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF ALL WENT WELL AND ALL THE KIDNEY STONES WERE REMOVED! I was not a bill collector calling you. My wife was a patient that you just worked on. For a procedure that cost more than $12K, I would expect more courtesy. Think about it.

His bedside manner is poor. He introduced himself while I was lying on my back for a procedure, he did not even introduce himself face to face. After the procedure he pretty much raced out of the room. I have dealt with other surgeons before I have worked in the field. He is one I would need want to see.
