Dr. Shah is very kind and caring. He is respectful to his staff and in fact a nurse in the hospital and in the office agreed with me when I commented on how nice he is! The outcome of the surgery is great!

Lacks Empathy
Telling him about my pain and he keeps discrediting it- acts like he is confused when I tell him about the pain, like it shouldn’t be happening. Has never actually looked at my shoulder to see the constant popping and grinding it does. Had a MRI quickly (only reason I’m giving 2 stars) and proceeded to tell me the tears in my shoulder are common and stated “I’m the surgeon” when I advised him about the difficulty I’m having with my shoulder. After getting upset, he now wants to take a look at my neck to see if it’s an issue and start physical therapy. I would not be going to him and wasting my time if I wasn’t in significant pain. I hemorrhaged while giving birth to both my children- with my last child I almost died in Iowa City. I know pain and have a high pain tolerance. My shoulder is keeping me up at night and interfering with daily routines and work. Giving it a chance because “he’s the surgeon”- but is definitely feeling more like a money grab and not empathy for his patient.

Professional and Kind
At 95, my mother faces many challenges, but is doing remarkably well after the hip surgery preformed by Doctor Shah after her fall. Doctor Shah is professional, kind, and connects with my mother. I have confidence in him and his concern for my mother and her care.

Nurse patients are the most difficult.. lolol
I'm a 30 yr nurse with bad knees trying to figure out what to do about it, so I can keep working and try to have a life still.. this young man and his PA-C both came in to see me and spent time asking pertinent questions. They're helpful, courteous, and are trying hard to provide a plan of care that will work best for my full time nursing schedule. I'm hopeful for some great outcomes including less pain, better knee stability and getting as much accomplished as we can, with as little invasive therapy as possible!

Wonderful Dr
My surgery was successful, Dr Shah explained in detail what he did following the surgery. His follow up was personal, calling me himself three times to check my post op progress. I will definitely recommend him to anyone needing an orthopedic doctor. Wonderful doctor with great personal bedside manner.
