When I went in to have cataract surgery I was told I would have just a twilight sedation as I had had with my other eye surgeries in the past. I really wasn’t that nervous because I’ve been through so many things already. But Dr. Treft came in and talked to me and told me that I should be put out completely so that I would just be able to wake up and have it over with. I didn’t realize the risks involved with anesthesia, and was not informed of any. When I woke from surgery, my throat was extremely sore, it bled for five days. The throat pain was way worse than the discomfort from the cataract surgery. It was horrible. I don’t know why in the world they would put someone to sleep and take risks for a simple cataract surgery. The lens's that was put in was also incorrect! This was in 2020. But be aware and advocate for yourself, I overly trusted what I was told. I didn’t feel good about full sedation but I figured the Dr knew best. Not always the case.
