Although the working personal were very kind, 2 months later getting more than a $60,000 bill for a 45 min outpatient procedure that did not even require general anesthesia hit like a ton of bricks. Not that I did not call them ahead of time to learn how much it might cost. In fact, I called them 10 times in 2 months period before the procedure, and I did not get any estimates from them. So if you need a “prostate vascular embolization” at Chesapeake Urology Associates expect to be billed more than $60k. No I DO NOT recommend this place shop around I am sure you will find a cheaper one.

Chesapeake Urology, now also called United Urology, has gone downhill. You can only reach them by calling a call center in the Philippines! It takes forever and then if you are lucky enough to get transferred to an office in the US, you have to explain everything again. Usually, they don’t understand the caller well and often it takes days to hear back from someone in the US. The exact same thing happened to my own gyn when she called to try to coordinate my care. If you have hours and weeks to spend trying to get in touch with your doctor, Chesapeake Urology is for you. Otherwise, please go to a doctor’s office who cares about you, respects your time and appreciates your business.
