Free Clinic for Uninsured Who Fall Thru the Cracks
The Community Health Clinic is a free clinic for people who do not have health insurance and who also meet certain income eligibility criteria. Basically, it's for people who do not qualify for Medicaid, but yet they cannot afford health insurance. (The ones who fall between the cracks!) The Community Health Clinics resources are limited, but they are still able to offer most of your basic health care services and can even help direct you to outside resources for whatever care they are unable to provide. The majority of the staff are very caring people who work hard for your benefit, though you may run across a bad apple occasionally (as with anywhere). They even have a (very small) pharmacy where you can get SOME prescription medications, also for free (e.g. - insulin, antibiotics, allergy, etc.). However, these resources are quite limited and can vary from month to month. They are working toward providing dental care, but that's been long in the works with no start date as of yet.
