Send you bill 2 months later will not answer phone

We were told there was no charge for my wife's tooth extraction; that it was covered by insurance. I received a bill over 2 months later. I left a message with billing to call me. No call for 2 weeks. I received a second bill which was even higher than the first bill. I called again and again no return phone call. There is no department that will actually answer your phone calls and they will not return phone calls. Even 'customer service' does not have anyone that answers the phone. I have no idea why they are charging us now and what the charges are for. I am not blindly sending them any payment.
