Beware! They lie about insurance coverage
I made an appointment for a routine colonoscopy. I’m 48, and the new screening standards are 45 now, so I was overdue. The consultation was unremarkable, but the patient advocate informed me that my insurance covered the procedure 100% without any out-of-pocket expense. I had the procedure, and it went well. However, about a month later, I received a bill for the entire amount. When I called, they said my insurance didn’t cover it. I called back, and they confirmed that my insurance company covers a routine colonoscopy after 50 with a co-pay. I should have checked myself, but why was I told it was covered when it wasn’t? I received three bills totaling almost $3000 from the office, the facility, and the anesthesiologist. I understand I have to pay for the servicesbut if they had been honest, I would have waited until my plan covered the procedure. All my emails and requests have gone ignored, and no one has apologized or acknowledged their mistake. Find a better office.
