I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the Brown Institute of Health and Wellness. I contacted them on Saturday with an urgent health concern and spoke to the on-call physician assistant. She advised me to call the office first thing Monday morning and schedule an appointment as soon as possible, explaining that it was an emergency.Following her advice, I called the office first thing Monday morning and spoke to Ana, who said she would have to take a message despite my clear and urgent concern. Two hours later, having received no response, I called back and was transferred to the office manager, Michelle. Michelle informed me that I would not be able to be seen for another four days. I explained that my situation was serious, and while it wasn't necessarily an emergency requiring an ER visit, it was crucial for me to see Dr. Colbart, who knows my medical history. I thought having my pregnancy verified was going to be an exciting experience…not at this office. Once my husband and I were inside the exam room, I asked the nurse what size blood pressure cuff she was using, because I have large upper arms. This led to a nasty back and forth concerning my blood pressure which escalated into Dr. Colbert coming in and bombarding us with negative messaging concerning all of the things that will go wrong during my pregnancy. At one point during her rant, Dr. Colbert asked me if I wanted to keep the pregnancy and I had never given her any indication that termination was an option.Dr. Colbert and her nurses were condescending and ruined what could have been an amazing experience.
