A Practice in Decline
The focus of this practice is NOT on you but on lucrative procedures. I had been a glaucoma patient at EDOW for years, enduring insolent front desk staff and unprofessional technicians but no longer. My glaucoma doctor changed to performing cataract surgeries and I was directed to Dr. Kim. He spent less than 2 minutes evaluating my complex history. I also was seeing an optometrist for glasses. This optometrist performed a thorough exam and the. informed me that I had AMD. I have a strong genetic risk which is documented in my chart. At the next visit with Dr. Kim, and the same perfunctory exam, I inquired whether he had noticed evidence of AMD. He said he had not but took another look and confirmed that indeed I had AMD. His only comment? Come back in a year. Shortly thereafter, I experienced an incident of advanced AMD requiring emergency treatment. A group of expert opthamalogists? Not so much. Very grateful to have been seen by my local optometrist.
