Love the Descanso office...Optum slipping though
Giving this review 5 stars because I my wife and I love our PCP (Dr. Hannah), and have found getting appointments with her within an acceptable time period (within a week or less--sometimes teledoc though), has been consistent. Where to start with Optum though?! Having to go between Blueshield and Optum via telephone to determine what is in network and what isn't has been an extraordinary waste of time, and then there's the portal! It's all over the place. Some of my referrals while in-network, are nonetheless at other facilities like my GI doc over at Providence / Genesis in Burbank. NONE of those lab results are showing on my Optum portal. There's more of course, but what I have described above eats up A LOT of time and is frustrating, and while overall I absolutely love my doctors and facilities, it all just feels like an unfortunate reflection of the state of the medical industry, as it continues it's momentum toward excessive administration and unsustainability.

This was once a great practice, then Optum took over in January, 2021. Now, they only (maybe) answer the phones after extended wait times. Receptionists triage patients without requisite medical training and are not informed on office practices. They are more interested in telling patients to go to urgent care or the ER than treating them in the office. There's a revolving door of temporary practitioners who are clueless and inept. Why have a primary care physician when he never is available to see patients? This place has become worse than a free clinic. Practitioners do not return phone calls or provide competent feedback to patients, test orders get "lost". Complaints are not resolved only apologies issued.
