Hello! My name is Adam Hewitt, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Missouri. I have been with BetterHelp since 2021 after spending several years in private practice as a mental health therapist and substance abuse counselor. I am licensed in Washington with 40 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with addictions, relationship issues, & family conflicts. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and a Licensed Addictions Counselor. My experience and training have been in addictions counseling, community mental health with adults and teens, and in school counseling with children and teens. I started my career working in the school system as an addictions prevention counselor. I have worked in outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential/inpatient levels of care throughout my career. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, and career challenges. I also help many people who have experienced addictions. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach is often called eclectic; I combine cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, gestalt and systems theory to tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
