He then pursued his Doctorate of Medicine with a concentration in the Neurosciences at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School. During his time in medical school he was involved in several ophthalmology and vision research projects, which have been presented on the national stage. Dr. Atkinson completed his ophthalmology residency at West Virginia University Eye Institute. He was selected by the faculty to serve as the Chief Resident his senior year in addition to being awarded resident of the year. Dr. Atkinson then returned home to Houston and joined the Houston Eye Associates' team. Dr. Atkinson is a member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society, the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Atkinson is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who offers treatment for cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, diabetes, and glasses, as well as many ocular complaints.

She also learned the intricacies of conducting clinic research, studying novel laser, injectable, and surgical techniques within UMs Department of Cosmetic Medicine. While completing her medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Murdock participated in the Department of Community Service (DOCS), which provided free medical screening to many underprivileged communities in South Florida. She also worked with a professional director and film crew to create a documentary series about the culture, medical needs, and health care gaps within these diverse communities. Dr. Murdock returned to Houston to complete a residency in ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine, where she delved further into education by teaching medical trainees in both didactic and hands-on settings. She was then selectively chosen from a highly competitive group of applicants to join the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with a fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University, where she performed thousands of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face, eyelids, and orbit in both adults and children alike. Dr. Jennifer Murdock is currently a board-certified ophthalmologist with a specialization in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery. She has a particular interest in aesthetic procedures, eyelid and orbital reconstruction, pediatric ophthalmic plastic surgery, and complicated orbital inflammatory disorders, including thyroid eye disease.
