This provider has no reviewsCounselingPO Box 999San Antonio, TX 782940.5 miles awayBiographyYou did it! You took the first step. Sometimes, life experiences often cause us to lose hope, direction and weigh down our hearts. We find ourselves in need of someone to help unravel our heart issues. Having support does not mean you were not able to do it on your own, it means you recognized you do not have to do it on your own! I look forward to working with you to help you gain strength and continue life's journey. I am a licensed professional counselor in the great state of Texas. I have had the opportunity to provide counseling services for the past 12 years. I have a Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. I am certified as a Prepare/Enrich facilitator. I have worked with families, couples, individuals, and groups in various settings (residential, outpatient, community, private practice). I have addressed concerns related to relationship conflict/development, addiction, substance-abuse, depression, anxiety, trauma, post- traumatic stress disorder, just to name a few. The treatment modalities that have proven most useful are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. I also provide Christian Counseling, upon request, with an integrated approach. My focus is not just about strategies to detour unhealthy behaviors, but also understanding the specific thought patterns that drive them. I take into account what clients have tried in the past and help them come up with new ideas that will have long lasting effect. As adults, we participate in multiple roles and respond to those roles based on past and current experiences. I find it imperative to process through past and current experiences which foster emotional, physical, mental exhaustion in our daily lives. Our therapeutic relationship is a collaboration which entails honesty, open communication, mutual trust, respect, and dedication to do the work. The feedback I receive from clients is that they find me to be compassionate, light-hearted, and nonjudgmental; and they appreciate that I am honest and direct with them. I genuinely care about you and desire to navigate through this season of change with you. The heart carries so much, let us unravel the heart together and joyfully experience what life has to offer!

I've worked as psychotherapist and crisis interventionist in the Dallas Metro area since 1979. I work with clients presenting with a broad range of issues, including depression, anxiety, childhood abuse, marital and family problems, trauma and stress disorders, post-trautic adjustment disorders, and bereavement. My counseling style is interactive and straight forward. Person-centered and cognitive behavioral theories of psychotherapy are my primary approaches to treatment. Person-centered therapy is used to build and maintain a healthy therapeutic relationship and cognitiv behavioral therapy is used to explore and expose destructive self-defeating thinking and coping behaviors. I also believe humor is the "spoonful of sugar" that helps the medicine go down. Clients tell me I am a kind person. I appreciate that because I genuinely care about others and want to help them when I can.

Rated 5.0 out of 5 starsCounselingPO Box 999San Antonio, TX 782940.5 miles awayBiographyThank you for taking the time to explore mental health as a means to improve your quality of life. I am aware that seeking counseling is a major sacrifice, yet it changes the trajectory of your life. My name is Dr. Sandra Webster-Brown. I identify as an African American female, she, her, hers. I am a licensed professional counselor in both the state of Texas and Colorado. A few of the populations I have worked with but not limited to practice include: Addictions, relationship issues, LGBTQIA, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I received a PhD from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX. My clinical training has been in trauma related issues with children, adolescents and adults. The approach I use to counseling is empathetic and interactive. I believe each client is expert in their situation. As counselor, my role is to guide you to a lifestyle that embodies a sense of stability, peace, and feeling of progression. Together we work toward managing and removing the barriers that prevent reaching life's meaning and purposeful goals. I will frequently inquire from you an evaluation, if my approach feels comfortable for you since counseling is a place to stimulate empowerment and growth. Because counseling is a safe environment to communicate what's on your mind in a non-judgmental environment, I want to make sure you have the space to explore the deep recesses of your heart, at your pace, in your time. When you are ready to speak or just be, I am available to support you. I am here for you.
